Baby Beauty | Melbourne newborn photographer

If you saw beauty in my eyes, remember that I was looking at you
- Jesh de Rox

 It has felt like so long since I’ve had a beautiful, independent baby girl in my studio – after a good run of handsome newborn baby boys of late, I was beginning to miss my girls. Zoe is just one of the beauties I was able to photograph recently.

We met… and I fell in love.

{Jess and Mark – she is lovely, she is adored and she is special. Thank you for allowing me to into your hearts to capture baby Zoe’s beauty}

Baby dreaming | Newborn photographer, Melbourne

“Oh sleep! it is a gentle thing,
Beloved from pole to pole.”
- Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Try as he might, he couldn’t stay awake forever. I was just a far too patient newborn photographer for his liking. What a brave new soul he was – inquisitive, cheeky and learning about this brand new sense of being in a beautiful way. Welcome lovely baby Ethan – the world is happy you’re here.

{He gave me such a happy heart, Cheryl and Patrick – may he continue grow yours the same way each and every day}

Mama love | Newborn photographer Melbourne

Oh how she loves him…

It was beautiful, special and I was proud to witness it and be a part of it. Every fibre of my being ached to try and capture even an ounce of her love for him in my images. I can only hope I did that love justice. Joseph’s mama was so relaxed with him, so bonded, I told her it felt like she had done all of this before. She agreed – it’s just like it was meant to be for these two. As a newborn photographer I felt such joy to be there and be surrounded by it.

I could have cried when his little hand reached up to touch his mama’s face. I very nearly did…

Who are you (who, who, who who?) | Baby Photographer, Melbourne

Well, who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
I really wanna know (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
Tell me, who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
‘Cause I really wanna know (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)

I have had this song by The Who stuck in my head for days – mainly because I was catching up on some much neglected blog/website stat reviews, when I came across some wonderfully gorgeous people who had themselves blogged about me and my newborn and baby photography. I was blown away, truly. Particularly as I had never heard a peep from these people before, and yet here they were, taking the time to stop and write to the special people in their world, about my work. I felt flattered, actually –  more than that, I felt honoured. Speechless, in fact. I would have never known that they had done so had I not stumbled across them. But, it also made me realise there must be many people out there who may visit my blog without ever saying a word (and considering my stats, that’s the majority of you!).

So today, I challenge all of your silent visitors out there!!!! Drop in and say hello! Even if it’s just one word, I’d love to hear from you in the comments field on my blog below. Go on… it will take two seconds, I promise! :)   Whether you’ve never commented, commented once, comment occassionally or comment every time I blog (I appreciate it more than you know… x), I’m talking to YOU! Yes, YOU! Show me you’re listening ;)

Coincidentally, I’m also updating a new FAQ post for my blog shortly, so if there is some burning question you’ve wanted to ask me about anything (doesn’t have to be biz related) either pop it in the comments below, or send me an email.

Facebook Page
Don’t forget I also have a Facebook page that I also keep updated, so if you’re not already a fan via Facebook, make sure you come past, join and say hello!

Baby Sebastian | Melbourne newborn photography

Seb (as his mama calls him) is one loved little soul. It was one of the first things I could feel the moment his beautiful family walked in the door. His parents were filled with such pride, such love. It’s one of the main reasons I love being a newborn photographer.

After finding out that this family is friends with the wonderful Lynn and James (who coincidentally have  welcomed their own little baby boy into the world in Canberra a week ago – congratulations again!), it made it even more special to be asked to capture this little one.

He makes me smile…

It’s the little things | Melbourne newborn photography

… that make my heart sing.

Today, I celebrate. I celebrate the milk blisters, the milia, the flakes, the fuzz, the wrinkles, the lines, the softness, the creases, the beauty that is baby.

I also celebrate this little man (albeit a late celebration, as these images are now weeks old… very slack blogger!) I photographed his big sister almost two years ago, and being invited to capture this moment for their family again made me giddy with pride.

Baby Audrey | Melbourne newborn photography

Sweet, sweet baby Audrey. Just like her name she was so beautiful and classic. Everything about her was amazingly perfect – such a pretty newborn baby she was.

I’m a bit of a sucker for a gorgeous head of hair and big pouty lips like hers…

{Sarah and Jack, it was my absolute pleasure to photograph your baby girl for you. Give her a giant cuddle from me}

Baby Jordan | Melbourne newborn photographer

It is always such a pleasure to have clients return to me for sessions. Even better when it’s because a new little soul has entered the world. I photographed this little baby girl’s big brother as a newborn two years ago, and having her visit my studio brought back so many lovely memories of this beautiful family. I feel so thankful when I see my clients again as its always such an immense privilege for me.

It was also this beautiful session that I was joined by the lovely Shana, who contacted me as part of my Dis the Biz with Kris blog call out a little while back. We had such a fabulous morning playing together – Shana is a wonderful person and I am so happy that I got a chance to meet and spend the day with her.

Wonder | Melbourne newborn photography

She is why I ache right down to my bones with love for what I do…why I go to bed thankful each and every night after meeting these new little souls for being fortunate enough not only to meet them, but to photograph them.

I feel like my words sometimes do not even begin to do my heart justice. I want so much for the beautiful and amazing parents that I meet to feel the way that I do when they see their images, to see what I see through my lens, and to be so joyful and amazed by their beautiful wonder. Every.single.inch of them is special. They created these people – I am merely here to capture their beauty.

This, my friends, is why I do what I do. This inspiring high that lifts my heart – it is a gift to me, these babies are a gift to me. I am so thankful for them.

Dainty and Divine | Melbourne newborn photography

I just have to say thank you so much to my amazing clients during this crazy busy month for me. I haven’t had nearly as much time to be able to keep the blog updated as much as I would like, and so I apologise if things like sneak peeks are (very) tardy, or non-existent for the moment. My priority is to make sure things still run as smoothly as possible for my gorgeous clients behind the scenes, so you’ll all have to forgive me for a little bit while I attend to my beautiful clients’ needs!

As such, this sneak peek is from a little while ago, but couldn’t help but share some images of this gorgeous sweet thing. Oh, how I loved her! Made her mumma wait for a little while to make her grand entrance, but I’m sure you’ll agree in that she was absolutely worth the wait. So dainty and divine. I could have sat there and breathed her in all day.

Baby Sibella| Newborn photography, Melbourne

Sweet Sibella. Loved every single inch of her newborn goodness.

Her mumma even brought in this amazingly beautiful heirloom quilt for her to be photographed with. I just love being able to incorporate gorgeous things like this into portraits for families – so, so special. This sneak peek also sends a huge shout out to all of Sibella’s extended family in Canada too so far, far away from her right now.

My Joy | Melbourne newborn photography

We’re having such a baby boom at the moment in Melbourne, and I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling it at the moment! The second half of December through to the end of January is crazy busy and I have never had so many newborn photography requests for the same period of time – makes me wonder what was in the water nine months ago to be welcoming all of these babies into the world at once ;)

One of these precious little souls is the new baby girl of one of my closest friends. Both of our two children are now only months apart (her big brother has featured before on the blog) which is such a special thing knowing that they can grow up together. When April was born, Mia was so excited to go and see her in the hospital (“see baby April mummy”) and of course, was just as excited to see her again when she came in to have her newborn photos taken.

I love her so dearly – everything about her makes my heart smile. The beautiful feathery eyelashes, the peach fuzz on her cheeks, the lovely dark hair on her head, the dainty little fingers – she’s a special little one. My Charlie will have to watch out as he will be fighting for her attention against all of the other boys, no doubt. In some ways she has very similar features to her big brother, but she’s definitely an individual and such a little girl at that.

Meet “baby April”…

{Love, love, love to you Bes – thank you for having me do this for your beautiful family. Can’t wait to cuddle her again very soon}

Baby Ava | Newborn photography, Melbourne

I was so excited when Lisa first contacted me just after Charlie was born to book in photos for her baby due in December. Lisa and I had gone to school together and it had been a few years since we had last caught up so it was so wonderful to hear from her with such lovely news.

As soon as I met her darling baby Ava, I fell in love. That hair… oh that luscious mop of hair on her beautiful ten day new head. It was dark, it was thick, and to make it even more delish – it even had blonde highlights running all of the way through it (just so mum can say Ava got at least something from her, because otherwise she’s all daddy!)

It’s been a while since I’ve had such a fiesty girl to play with and I’m pretty sure she tried every trick under the sun to stay awake, but little did she know, I am more persistent and patient than she…

{So lovely to see you again Lise, and lovely to meet you Paul - her session still gives me smiles!}

Merry everything! | Melbourne newborn photography

Phew… it’s been so, so busy so you will have to excuse my obvious neglect of the blog of late. Between clients, Christmas orders, end of year wrap up, and of course, preparing for Christmas ourselves, this whole month has been a bit of a whirlwind.

First off, Merry Christmas to all of my beautiful clients and faithful blog readers for 2009. For those that celebrate, I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday spending time with loved ones, enjoying good food with much joy and laughter. I hope there was lots of Santa spotting, tickles, Christmas cracker crown-wearing, pudding eating and early bed times, and from my heart I send you all of the very lovliest of holiday wishes to your family.

To the non-Christmas celebraters during this holiday season, have a Merry Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Tet, Ramadan, Winter Solstice and Festivus!

But today I can’t go without posting some precious shots of the gorgeous Noah who arrived a few weeks early much to the surprise of his family in time to surprise them for Christmas (and could you ask for a more perfect Christmas gift for them?) Such a gorgeous thing he was for me – oh how I loved playing with him so much!

A year of newborns – 2009 slideshow | Melbourne newborn photography

I feel so incredibly fortunate and blessed to be doing what I do. I know I have said this… a lot… and I mean it. I am so fortunate to have the most amazing clients that put their faith and trust in me to capture beautiful moments in their lives. I am so lucky to spend time getting to know such special people and providing them with memories and art to cherish for years to come.

With every flake of skin, fuzzy ear, wrinkly foot, pouty lip, wispy hair or curled slumber, I am reminded of the beauty of each and every newborn baby. The tiny, the precious, the new – this newness that seems to whisper a tale of what infinite possibilities this little person can achieve in their lifetime. I meet these babes when they are only a few days young and still so fresh and innocent, and it humbles me every single time. It humbles me because days ago, weeks ago, months ago – this little person wasn’t even here yet, and here I am being asked to freeze this perfect moment in time for them to remember and cherish. Their parents loved them but didn’t know how much they would love that flakey skin, fuzzy ear, wrinkly foot…

And so here is just a sprinkling of the clients I’ve had over the course of 2009 – my beautiful newborn babies, with many more exciting miracles to meet in 2010.
