Seedling | Newborn photographer, Melbourne

…Hello, little seedling.
We welcome you with open arms into this beautiful world.
Grow, little seedling.
Stretch your arms up and up, and let your fingers dance and sway in the beautiful sunshine.
Breathe in this new life you have claimed.
Grow strong for tomorrow.
Love, little seedling.
Snuggle into the warmth of your family’s happiness.
They (and I) are so thankful you have come to be.

These are all too perfect. You are the newborn queen. Total gorgeousness (and I love the little poem at the start)!

Kristen I’ve been watching from a long way away (London) for a while but haven’t come out of the shadows until now – I can’t hold my silence any longer! What you do is beautiful, moving, extraordinary and something I really aspire to – I look forward avidly to your posts. I have a couple of questions: first did I see a wonderful compilation of your January photo-a-day project somewhere? I feel sure I did, but cannot find it – I so want to send it to a friend to cheer her up and motivate her.. and secondly would you be happy to share some tips about how you light your babies so beautifully, and how you get them to curl so sleepily and adorably like that? With the greatest respect and admiration Hester

Thank you Hester for your lovely comments! I am a natural light photographer (so these are all window lit), and curly babies is about practice, warmth and age :) Good luck! x

Thanks Kristen – it’s so thoughtful of you to take the trouble to respond so quickly. And I’m amazed – and encouraged, as I’m not a fan of studio set ups for babies either. Maybe I should have a couple more myself to practise on…! No doubt you’re being modest and your post-production skills are outstanding too.. but it’s good to have something to aim at. Can you point me at your collage of your photo-a-day project? I wish I could find it – so want to see it again… Thanks for the encouragement Hesterx
