Photo-a-day: Day 8 | Baby photography, Melbourne

    {Photo-a-Day Project: A personal project that I undertake every January for an entire month taking one photo a day of my children.}

You are the sunrise of my morning
    And my sunset at night
No moment, no thought, no minute
Could be more beautiful than you.

It seems only fitting you use up the last Santa nappy today for Ukrainian Christmas.
As I took this, it also served as a reminder that this time next year there will be no more nappy photos.
And even though that time seems so far away,
You always astound me with just how far you’ve come.

Oh how late past your bedtime it was.
(But that’s ok, it was Ukrainian Christmas Eve tonight, so a reason to celebrate)
And you showed no signs of stopping.
I don’t even remember how many times you ran up and down these stairs with your cousins.
But I do remember the giggles.
    And the squealing.
In fact, darling girl, I’m sure the neighbours did too.

A Dream | Newborn photographer Melbourne

    “Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem  to whisper, I love you
Birds singing in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me”

    You are sensitive.
    Inquisitive.
    Thoughtful.
    Bossy.
    And then,
Just when I think I have you all figured out
You make me laugh with your quick wit.
    All.over.body.laugh.

    The Baby and the Monkey
Had a very joyful afternoon indeed.

There is such simplicity and great joy that comes from playing under bed sheets.
Oh, what fun we had this morning.

I do it by myself” are words we hear daily, dear Charlie boy.
Yet, try as you might, there are some things you are still yet to master.
Like how to manoeuvre your way out of the dreaded maze of a shirt above your head.

As you grow, your personalities become more distinct and refined.
Miss Mia, you are forever delicate.
You cross your legs like a lady at the breakfast table.
You rarely spill your porridge, and your manners are beautiful.
Charlie Bucket, you are still to master the art of gravity.
The floor is not safe around you.
And when you flash me that cheeky grin of yours to say you are done, I could very well eat you for breakfast myself.
    You’ve both grown so much.
Yet there is still so much more room to grow.

    Welcome friends.
    Welcome to 2012.
The most exciting and wonderful year of your life yet, and it’s only just begun.

For the fourth year in a row now, as the new year begins, so does my personal January project.
Every day in January I take a photo of my sweet babies.
    My life.
Every year the collection becomes more and more precious.
As a parent, seeing your children every single day you are constantly reminded of the beauty that is in front of you.
This project encapsulates everything I hold dear about them at this time.
What we love, what we do, who we are.
And looking back on previous years only cements the importance of this project to me.
They are my heart beat, my reason to be better.

Last night we woke Miss Mia to watch the new year fireworks from our bedroom window.
Bleary-eyed she watched the lights dancing in the sky.
    I love fireworks“, she said.
Again, this morning and this afternoon she reminded us of this fact.
I see more fireworks in her future.

    Enjoy, friends
