Kristen Cook – Children’s Photographer in Melbourne: Client sneak peeks!

Being Honest | Melbourne baby photography

There is an honesty in the eyes of the babies I connect with. A purity. A kind sense of self, of exploration, of curiosity. It’s almost as if every single time they give you that moment they are drinking in everything that surrounds them.

This honesty is a gift. When those eyes see you, and I mean truly see you (not just look at you), the feeling is electric. Palpable. It’s exposing. It might be a wide eyed stare of awe (something this soulful little man was so amazingly meant for) reaching deep into you heart, the beat of which feels like crashing waves on the sand. Or, it could be a giggle, the cautious smile or the big gigantic belly aching laugh from simply letting it all go and being swept up in a moment of sheer joy.

Whatever it is, it comes from the heart. There’s no faking it. That honesty is as tender, considered and important as anything.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched; they must be felt with the heart

So many reasons to smile | Newborn photography

Because she is loved
Because her peachy perfect skin and rosebud lips are something to be treasured
Because she made my day better, brighter and more full of wonderful heart
Because at six weeks of age, she was so good to give her gorgeous mama the photo she was so hoping to get…

He | Newborn photographer, Melbourne

He reached out and curled his little fingers around my own. In that instant, I knew we would be friends.
He cared only for love, for connection, for what was comfortable and familiar.
He taught me worth.
He made me peaceful.
He brought me a genuine and present joy. An organic relationship founded on a considered and thoughtful reciprocal tenderness.
He.
My new friend.
Lucas.

Greater | Newborn photography

Babies are miraculous little people.
They are so much greater than the sum of their parts.

I am so grateful each and every day as a newborn photographer to share in the uncomplicated joy and soulful exploration of these wonderful tiny humans for the first time. And, this time, I felt even more grateful for the fact that this is the second baby for this beautiful family that I have had the good fortune to photograph.

First Love | Melbourne newborn photography

Love is not a thing to understand.
Love is not a thing to feel.
Love is not a thing to give and receive.
Love is a thing only to become
And eternally be.

- Sri Chinmoy

When you’re smiling | Newborn photographer, Melbourne

Keep on smiling
Cause when you’re smiling
The whole world smiles with you…

Just. Love. | Newborn photographer

Sometimes there are no words to express what you feel as a newborn photographer when you are surrounded by moments of such love and such beauty… simple. beautiful. love.

Baby Will | Newborn photographer, Melbourne

I watched each day as baby Will got bigger, grew stronger, formed connections and bonded lovingly with those around him. Every.single.day I felt thankful to be near him. There was a peacefulness in his breath, a quietness that confirmed everything that was pure and honest in the world.

By the end of my stay we had already learned of his little personality traits – his preference to have his hands by his face to comfort him while he slept, his ability to sneeze multiple times in a row followed by a cute sigh of satisfaction, his inquisitive one-eyed slumber… it was all beautiful.

A showcase of just a a sprinkling of the amazing 10 days we spent together… (and trust me friends, the best is still yet to come. My last and final day in Canada deserves a post all of it’s very own for so many reasons, so be sure to check back in soon)

The Beauty I See | Maternity photography, Melbourne

I arrived in Canada on a Wednesday.

It had been a long trip to get there, but I was completely running on adrenalin that it didn’t seem to matter. I remember coming down the stairs at the airport leading out to the public waiting area seeing Kerianne’s beautiful face smiling at me. I felt so blessed right at that moment to be where I was.

For the next two and a bit weeks I would be lucky enough to share deeply in the lives of this beautiful family. I would watch their final stages of pregnancy, document the anticipated birth and welcoming of an amazing new person and share in the start of his life to come.

The creation of life is tender, beautiful and infused with care.
We connected in the quietness.
This exploration of truth in the moment not only created some beautiful images of some amazing people, but some fond memories for my heart to sing.
