Three and a bump | Melbourne pregnancy photographer

This gorgeous little family is just weeks away (or less perhaps!) of welcoming a new addition to their world. I always love my maternity sessions (and not just because they’re a prelude to my newborn sessions!) because it’s also a time for families to connect and remember the absolute miracle that they are experiencing at that moment in their lives.

Oliver is just over two years of age, but is going on 30. He honestly did not stop chatting the whole time we were together blurting out fully formed sentences about what he was doing, or where he wanted to go – he had my in hysterics most of the time. I know he is going to make such a wonderful big brother!

{Jane, would you believe I got sunburn?!? How stupid am I? First time ever on a shoot! Had a lovely relaxing afternoon with you all, and can’t wait to see you again in a few weeks!}

A Saturday miracle | Melbourne pregnancy photography

This beautiful session was my first getting back into the swing of things in 2009 after having a short, but very, very well deserved break from shooting over Christmas and the New Year.

I honestly (and I mean it) could not have asked for a more beautiful session than Anessa’s maternity. She was glowing in every sense of the word and it was an absolute pleasure to be in the room with her, and even more of an honour to get to photograph her. Her and Julian will make wonderful parents, and I am so looking forward to meeting their little newborn in the next month!

And this one is just for you, A…

{Anessa, it was so lovely for me to be able to do this for you – I had a wonderful morning with the both of you and I can’t wait to show you the rest of them when they are ready.}

And on the same day… | Melbourne Pregnancy Photography

…I also had gorgeous Claire’s maternity session. I will also be doing her newborn photos next month so stay tuned for those as well, can’t wait!

Claire chose to to have her maternity images taken at home because she told me she had gorgeous light in her back garden in the evenings. She wasn’t wrong. We were absolutely blessed with the most gorgeous weather as well which made it all the more special. You could just feel the anticipation with these two – itching, bursting, waiting to become new parents. Loved spending the afternoon with them!

More of that yummy anticipation… (bags packed and waiting, cot empty and waiting…)

{I had so much fun with both of you guys! Cannot wait to see you both again when your little cherub arrives – will be in touch with your gallery as soon as I can!}

Little miracle | Pregnancy photography, Melbourne

I had SO much fun at this session…. honestly. I was laughing so hard that I had to keep telling these guys off so they didn’t end up with blurry images! Loved their session, loved them!

Keep your eyes peeled for the newborn images – coming…. soon!

We actually ended up incorporating her gorgeous Luci Dibella (drool) wedding veil (double drool) which was such a beautiful touch for her session. Things like this make it so much more personal and special and I adore it!

{Kasia, you rock. Had a wonderful morning with you – I wish you all of the very best with the lead up to your labour – may it be quick, painless and that baby shoots right out of you! Can’t wait to hear from you after the birth!!}

Meet Baby M!

I always love sessions where I have had the pleasure of doing some pregnancy photography for mum, and also being asked to come back for some newborn photos as well.

Here she was then (nice and cosy in mum’s tummy!!)

… and here she is now!

How lucky was I to get this eye contact at only one week old?! This never happens!! I must have been super quick that day…!

{Welcome to the world baby Mikayla! It is a pleasure to finally meet you! Nic, congratulations on your princess!}

I wish the weather was kinder!

After a glorious Saturday morning, I was hoping the weather would be just as kind for my session on Sunday. Sadly… not! It was just as well that Sunday’s session was a combined maternity/2 year old session which we had planned indoors anyway, but my camera settings got a good work out on Sunday trying to make sure we had some good light to work with.

My maternity session was with the gorgeous Nicole from Allure Designer Stationery (check out her website, she has some gorgeous stuff – and I was lucky enough to see some in person too) – she’s ridiculously photogenic so I won’t make you all jealous by posting any face pics of her here, but I will share her gorgeous belly with you all:

So loving those gorgeous red nails…. roaaaaawr!

And her daughter Taya – just as beautiful and sweet as her mummy!

{Hope you enjoy the sneak peeks Nicole, can can’t wait to see you soon for your newborn session!!}

Another yummy mummy day

Poor Megan today had to sit there listening to me sniff and snot and splutter today (gross, so sorry again Megan!). Lucky for me though, the shoot today was at my place as Megan is a local (yay!).

With only 5 weeks to go before her due date, Megan was glowing. Loved meeting her happy, bright self and loved the opportunity to photograph her beautiful belly.

{See you again soon when the bubba arrives Megan – hope you enjoyed your session and felt comfortable, and that you like your sneak peeks}

The human form

I believe that there is honestly nothing more beautiful in the world than a pregnant woman, and I just hope that these photos do my client, T, justice.

We kept discussing today at her photoshoot how amazing it is to be pregnant, and how beautiful and special you actually feel knowing that there is a little life growing inside of you, one that you are nurturing, one that is completely dependent on you (and for a long time to come).

T wanted some artsy nudes done of her (I wish everyone was this brave!) and it was so much fun throwing ideas around in order to get the best out of her session today. She was so wonderfully comfortable and easy going and made my job an absolute breeze…

{T – thank you for being so brave, so willing to try my ideas and asking me to do this for you. It was an honour to be able to photograph your pregnant self, and I can’t wait to meet the little man when he arrives!}

Ok, I admit…

…I’ve been a bit behind in posting the sneak peeks from this session (so L – apologies again you had to wait!) but I hope for her sake, she likes the results ;)

Maternity sessions are quickly becoming favourites of mine. Don’t get me wrong, I adore my kiddy sessions, but it’s sometimes nice to have an ‘adult’ break and not have to bribe people to look at the camera (well, sometimes you still do…!)

Some sneaky peekies:

There’s a reason this is my fave. I LOVE SUN FLARES! Ok, so it’s not the best example, but gives me warm fuzzies all the same…

(Looooving that garden shed door… yummo)

And finally, the yummy mummy herself:

Mr Einstein

The weather at the moment has been horrible… last night was apparently the hottest March night on record. Not a record I want to beat again anytime soon either. And, to top it off when the ‘cool’ change finally arrived, let me tell you, it wasn’t that cool!

I adored today’s session. I spent the morning with the most gorgeous, cheeky and intelligent two year old I have ever met. Honestly, this kid was amazing. He can already count, actually read letters of the alphabet, pick out colours…. he’s my little Einstein!! I’m sure his poor mother kept hearing me say “I can’t believe it” oh-too-many times today because everytime I thought I couldn’t be impressed anymore, he surprised me with something else! What a wonderful and beautiful little mind this world has in store for it.

So – anyone want some good looks with those brains? Check…

How about a cheeky smile? Check…

And a gorgeous giggle? Surely not…!

Want to see where he gets those good looks from??

This is his drop-dead-gorgeous-could-be-supermodel-material mother Twyla. I openly admitted to her I had a bit of a girly crush on her (I promise I’m no stalker Twyla!! haha) at the session – here she was, two weeks from her due date with her second baby and absolutely radiant beyond belief. She was a beautiful soul, knew how to work the camera, and really made my job a matter of just pressing the button at the right time! Bliss!

And let’s just finish with an ‘Awwwwww’ moment, shall we??
