“Food shopping” with daddy is one of your most favourite things to do.
You take such pride in helping get items off the shelf.
Even more so when putting them into the trolley.
Everything always has a place.
But when there are mini trolleys available so you can follow behind daddy,
Your day becomes just that bit sweeter.

I ring the bell.
A few seconds pass.
I hear footsteps galloping towards the door.
My mummy’s coming…!” I hear you shout from inside daycare.
Really? Is it your mummy?” replies your carer.
Yes! Yes! It’s my mummy!
Click.
Unlatch.
The door handle turns.
The sweetest, most excited little face peeks out at me from behind the door.
Every. Single.Time.
And then what glorious cuddles follow.
So many cuddles.

Dear milk-loving-Mia,
For your next birthday, I propose we buy you a cow.
I suspect, it may be cheaper.
And more fun.
Love Mama x

The Free Hugs Campaign has been around for a while.
Yet, I have always admired what it stands for.
That hope, contact and love are the fundamentals of what we base our lives on.
That something as simple as a hug can make all of the difference.
That the reminder of human connection is a far more powerful tool than it first may seem.
That touch can be a way of showing someone how you see them.
Hugs are in no short supply in our household.
But any excuse to get one, will always make me smile.

You were always a baby who was scared of the water.
When you were born, you would cry endlessly at bath time.
Pools were completely off limits.
But this Christmas, you surprised everyone when you declared that you wanted swimming lessons from Santa.
Sweet girl, your water phobia is diminishing as your spirit grows.
Time and patience is all you needed.
Everything in its own time.
And if your face is anything to go by today, water is no stranger anymore.

How beautiful it is to be able to eat ice cream with your best friend, on the back deck.
Summer afternoons are heavenly.
Ice cream dripping down little fingers and hands, even more so.
A childhood right of passage.
Happy Monday, friends.

The sun was out smiling today.
It was a beautiful day in the garden.
You proudly helped daddy plant some new trees in the garden.
(Or, should I say, daddy helped you plant new trees).
Everything had to be done by you.
Your sense of responsibility and purpose astounds me to no end.
And then, when it was time to give the trees a drink,
Naturally, this task was also yours.
And Cleo bounced in to join in on the fun too.

Books are wonderful creatures.
They excite the mind, harness creativity and grow the spirit.
As a child, I had great love of books – many of which I have given to my own children to read.
I am so thankful that they feel the same way.
Tonight, That’s not my truck… was on the menu.
As well as giggles.
Many giggles.
Miss Mia knows how to make presentation count.

So it’s cold, windy and raining outside.
In January.
In Summer.
However, rock concerts in the play room are perfect to pass the time.
