Why Sundays are great | Children’s photography, Melbourne

… because it’s another day of the weekend
… because you can sleep in (sometimes!)
… because cooked breakfasts are much more common
… because family always seems to matter more
… because you can spend a gorgeous day at the beach with THIS adorable family!!!

As much as I adore them all anyway (because they’re friends of mine!!), photographing their little family on the weekend was fun, fun, fun! You may remember this gorgeous little blonde haired beauty from almost exactly this time last year, on my blog. Since then though, we have a devilishly handsome new addition to the family – Master Harry, who by the way, is so completely and utterly adorable I want to eat every last bit of him!

Miss Molly was as gorgeous for me as she always is and if I could have fit her in my pocket and taken her home with me, I would have!

Loved, loved, loved loved, loved (did I say, love??) this session and this family.

{It really isn’t fair on the rest of Melbourne, Australia, the UNIVERSE that you two make such gorgeous children together Shezra. I had an amazing day with all of you, and give your Mols and Haz and giant, enormous bear hug from me xx}

My how they grow…

You may remember darling baby Fin from his newborn session 6 months ago here

Well, look at him now!!

Seriously – you people need to stop creating such good looking kids… you’re all killing me…. KILLING ME!!!!!

Lucky Fin has moved into a brand new home and I was lucky enough to get the grand tour today – so gorgeous. And even better, he’s tossed mum and dad out of the master bedroom on the ground floor and kept it to himself.  Good going Fin – let’s keep it that way! xx

{Thanks for the gorgeous morning Kaz!! In return, I have left you with a half-drunken cup of tea, muffin smeared all over your furtniture and crumbs in places you won’t even think of… shall we do it again soon?!}

Little Liam

My darling friend Tracey was pregnant with her second baby, due two days after Mia’s birthday. Mia’s birthday, and her party, came and went, with no sign of the new addition. It wasn’t until the Wednesday after that I received the call I’d be waiting for… little Liam had arrived!! All 9 pounds of newborn goodness.

Couldn’t wait to meet him – went into visit the family in hospital the next day and everyone was doing so well. Today though was extra special, as on his 7th day of getting used to this new world, he had his first supermodel newborn photography session. Here are some of my favourites:

Sleeping newborn + daddy + kiss = SO CUTE!

{Tracey and Jamie – I don’t need to tell you again how gorgeous he is – just look at his photos! What a dream boat – cluck cluck cluck!! Congratulations again, I adore him}

My baby is now ONE

I now have to count her age in years, not months… today was hard, I had my share of tears and tantrums for both of us today! BUT, it was also a fun day, and I promised myself I would reflect on all of the wonderful things in our lives now that she isn’t a ‘baby’ anymore:

I now get kisses and cuddles, even without asking.
She can sing and sing to her heart’s content and never tires of hearing her own voice.
She swings her legs around madly when she’s sitting in her high chair waiting for food.
She’s very definite about what she likes and doesn’t like.
I can see her whole face light up when she sees me for the first time in the morning.
She’s got her own little shy and timid personality which grows day by day.
She gives the greatest belly laughs in the whole world to no one else but our dog Cleo.

Today, in honour of her birthday, she got to have her first cake – and not just a small slice mind you, she had access to the whole thing. Why not let her enjoy the moment while I sit back and document it??

(Warning: loads and loads of photos ahead – but it’s a special day so I’m sure you won’t mind!)

First, she went straight for her favourites… the strawberries!!

{Yep, two at a time mum – I’m very coordinated!}

After that – it was all in!

And this is when I started to panic realising she was heading straight for me covered in cream…

The difference two seconds can make…

And finally – the END!

If you’d had asked me two years ago would I have dreamed to have been so lucky as to be sitting here this evening writing about my gorgeous miracle’s first birthday, I would have never ever thought it possible. Yet… here I am, and here she is.

Worth every cent, pill, injection, tear and more… and I would do it all again tomorrow in a heartbeat.

One

That’s how many days are left until my baby turns… one…

I can’t believe that as of the 15th of May, this Thursday, tomorrow, I will have a one year old…

I’m not handling it well – at all, in fact – and every time I think about it I begin to cry, so I have to apologise in advance if I’m a bit tardy in replying to emails or answering my phone tomorrow.

I’ll most like be off sulking in a corner somewhere pretending it’s not happening!

Stay safe,

xx

My baby sister

I’d like to know why she got the “good” genes from our family…

{Love you Em – I still think you look so much like dad in that third shot! xx}

Sending my love across the ocean!

My darling best friend Debbie (BBBBBBBBF, is that right Deb?) lives over the in UK now which makes me very sad as I obviously don’t get to see her gorgeous face nearly enough. I was lucky though to have a chance to catch up with her a little while ago when she came for a visit to the land of Oz (yaaay!) and I will also get to see her again in January when she comes home to get married (double YAAAY!).

I’ve grown up with Deb’s family – we met when we were 10, so a lot of our childhood and teenage years were spent playing at each other’s houses, going on holidays (she even braved three months backpacking with me in Europe… now that says something!).

It was therefore such an honour to be asked by her gorgeous sister Karen and her husband James, to take some photos of of their oh-so-handsome baby boy Finlay. He was only teeny tiny, and so brand new at only six days old… SIX! They don’t get much fresher than that out of hospital! He was about as good as I could have hoped for too – he barely made a peep when we were trying to bend him and move him around, but as you can see, felt far more comfortable wrapped up in the arms of his new dad where it was toasty and warm.

I think this is my favourite image at the moment. That little hand grabbing daddy’s wrist…. ahhh – it KILLS ME!!!

Look closely…. can you see his baby fuzz??? SO ADORABLE!!

{Kaz and James – THANK YOU for having me come over and do this for you!! It was honour enough to meet him when he was so brand spanking new but to be able to photograph him as well…. pure joy!}

Happy birthday Em

My baby sister turned 22 yesterday so in typical Aussie style we had a family BBQ to celebrate.

To mark the occasion, we tried to get a nice portrait of her. This was our attempt…

{See… and you all thought I just snapped the perfect shot everytime! haha}

Happy birthday Em!
