Kristen Cook – Family Photography in Melbourne

Two times the fun! | Kids Photography, Melbourne

I know you probably wouldn’t believe me from these photos, but we actually had to cut our first session short with this family as the kiddies were just not in the mood for photos at all. I was so happy that I could capture some of their cheeky side before it all turned sour, but we made the decision to pack up and try again another day when they were feeling more rested.

Lucky for me it meant that I got to spend time with this gorgeous family, not once, but twice! You also wouldn’t believe me if I said that this gorgeous little man had a horrible year this year with illness – he was so adorable, and so yummy and his little outfit was divine!!

{Bridie, sorry it’s taken a bit to get these sneak peeks for you – busy, busy!! I hope you enjoy them and I  also hope the kidlets had fun and that Meg’s eternal search for the monkey has now ended!!}

Amelie’s Day | Melbourne Baby Photographer

I had a gorgeous weekend just gone with some lovely Melbourne families! On Saturday I got to meet up with little Amelie and her family (she’s a few months older than my little miss Mia) – we spent the morning playing at the park, climbing over play equipment, watering plants, climbing trees, playing with mum and dad – what fun!!

{Martin & Kristy – Amelie was a gorgeous little thing who was such a pleasure to be around!! I hope you all had fun and I will be in touch shortly}

Boys will be boys | Melbourne Children’s Photographer

Boy, (noun):  a noise with dirt on it

…and these boys, were definite BOYS!!

They were loud, they were fierce, they were hyperactive, they were cheeky but most importantly they were loads and loads of fun.

I had a ball with these two – they barely stopped moving for two seconds which kept me on my toes, or wrestling with each other which was one of my favourite things to capture about their day.

I love watching kids be… kids!! If the kids are having fun, it shows – as you will see!!

{There’s nothing more special than watching two siblings interact with one another the way they did Angela and it’s obvious they have a special bond. Thank you for having me photograph their morning for you!}

Miss Independent | Children’s Photographer, Melbourne

I got to play with another Grace on the weekend!! This almost 3 year old was an absolute hoot – definitely a girl that knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want (watch out mum and dad) and had me in stitches half the time.

This sweet little thing told me in no uncertain terms that she did not want to have her photo taken and no amount of distratcting was going to change her mind in the beginning – as soon as that camera went into my hands she was off! Once we got the games going, the guard came down and the fun started and she soon forgot about the camera and lucky for me too because her session turned out to be one of my all-time favourites.

I adored her…

{Thank you for a great morning Renee, and Grace is welcome to come home with me anytime she asks!!}

Double trouble!! | Melbourne Baby Photography

Earlier in the year I photographed my first set of twins – you may remember them from this post.

And on Sunday… I got to photograph them AGAIN!! Yipppeeeee! Oh my how they have grown (but still had the cheeky little glints in their eyes that they had the last time I saw them). These two make me laugh so much (and their parents worked themselves stupid Sunday as well – well done you two!!)

I seriously cannot believe how much time has passed since I first took their baby photos – and here they are sitting up and almost crawling around!! I love these milestones and I LOVE watching my little clients grow up and learn new things – it is so rewarding and I feel SO lucky!!

{It was such a pleasure to see you again Michelle – I had an absolute ball with those kidos just like I did last time. I can only imagine the fun we’re going to have when they turn one… I’m getting excited again already!! Love to you all!}

Afterglow

You know when you’ve been waiting something for ages, and it takes forever to come but is over in the blink of an eye? That’s how I feel right about now…

I spent the most amazing weekend in Bungendore with Barb Uil of Jinky Art and 14 other photographers from across Australia. It was just what I needed – I feel so inspired, pumped and ready for the next phase of my business and I can’t wait to get everything moving… 2009 now can’t come fast enough!

I will write a little more about the workshop in coming posts when I can also post some images from the weekend, but for now I wanted to post a sneak peek for my gorgeous patient clients from last week who have yet to see any!

Loved, loved, loved this family

{A quick shout out to Ros – hope you had a gorgeous weekend, and enjoy these sneaky peeks from last week!}

Another weekend over

Saturday I must admit was the exact reverse of Friday – weather was a bit off in the morning, but by the afternoon…. WONDERFUL! I love days like that! Sunday was also fanastic – the weather was so kind to Melburnians this weekend!

Had a glorious session this weekend with this lovely family – they were all adorable, and we spent a lovely afternoon in the Botanical Gardens. In fact, it’s where these lovely parents were married so it made it all the more special to return to the gardens for some family portraits as well!! I love it when locations like this hold a special place in my client’s hearts!!!!

It was so obvious that these two girls were daddy’s girls… anywhere daddy went, they would follow.

Aren’t they all so CUUUTE??

{Those kids of yours are a riot Peggy, I adore them. What a fun afternoon – I think we were right to finish when we did; the kids are the ones in control!! hahaha!!}

Little Pirate Ollie

Welcome to Spring Melbourne! Ahhhh – GLORIOUS weather we’re having. I adore it. It’s not too hot but not so cold you can’t spend the day outside. The sunshine has been so lovely and I have been so fortunate that both yesterday and today I was lucky enough to take advantage of the great weather by having two children’s photography sessions!

I’ll post some sneak peeks from today in the next day or so, but first I wanted to share some from yesterday. Ok, I admit – I personally think I photograph every cute kid that lives in Melbourne (though I am sure there are more out there I just haven’t met yet) and little Oliver is right up there with them. He just turned one and had a pirate party on the weekend – hence the hat…. “aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh me hearty” (yes, that’s my best pirate impersonation, and that’s all I’m giving you!) but don’t you just want to dive into those big brown eyes?!

This next shot has to be one of my all-time faves – I love ‘moments’, and this one with his mum makes me smile from ear to ear every time I look at it.

I’ll stop my sneak peek here before I go overboard because I have many from this session, but this will do for now!

{That little pirate of yours stole my heart Melanie, and I’m sure there will be many more broken hearts to come!! Thank you for having me for the afternoon – had an absolute ball!}

Ebony and Anabel

I was so fortunate to spend the morning with Ebony and Anabel yesterday – two of the most beautiful little things I have had the opportunity to photograph! The good news for me was that they were pretty much up for anything and loved taking me around the house showing me all of their favourite things.

Their smiles were beyond infectious – I think my jaw was hurting from giggling all morning with them! Big sister Ebony was a riot – could seriously not get her away from the camera…

And little sister Anabel – cute as a button and wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home with me.

It will be lots and lots of fun editing this session!!

{I hope the girls enjoyed themselves Michelle!! Thanks so much for the tea and the lovely morning, and I will be in touch with the rest of your proofs in a few weeks!}

Sunday sneaky peek!

I can usually always spot the early talkers when I photograph kidlets… they’re usually the ones who chatter away non-stop, are very assertive and confident, and love to tell me out anything and everything. Neivh was no exception – she kept me entertained for the entire time I was there. We kept watch for goblins in the garden, we played with her pet dinosaur Bronty and we collected ‘food’ (aka leaves, berries, flowers) from the garden for our tea party.

Little sister Shyla was such a trooper… as younger siblings usually are! Neivh adored Shyla, and it was so wonderful to watch them interact even if it meant Shyla getting lovingly pushed around by her well-meaning big sister. Didn’t bother her in the slightest… she obviously loves her big sister too!

{It was a pleasure to spend some time on Father’s Day with your family Angeline. Thank you for having me do this for you!}
