Her last days as an only child | Melbourne baby photographer

230809_017wm

Yep, today is my due date… and I’m surprised I actually made it this far. Some of you may be aware from my Twitter updates that I fell ill last weekend and unfortunately for me, the symptoms are not only hanging around, but getting worse (but thank you to everyone who has offered their well wishes). Who said labour wasn’t fun enough – let’s throw in being sick just for laughs!

I will be sure to update the blog as soon as I am back with the gorgeous new addition to our family, but for now, just an image to mark my Little Miss Mia’s last days as an only child (taken by my lovely husband!)

{…and thank you Melissa for being such a gorgeous inspiration x}

Holly | Melbourne Baby Photographer

When this little gem first arrived to her session, she was not a happy chappy. Her mum told me that she had been crying most of the way over instead of sleeping as she should have been (isn’t it always the way?). Her little cheeks were so red and her beautiful eyes all puffy – so the first thing I suggested was to let her have a nap!

She is the most feisty and headstrong little thing and watching her fight going to sleep was entertainment enough for me.  Of course, it also means gorgeous photo opportunities as well (it’s no secret I adore sleeping babies) and also meant that poor red face was gorgeously peachy again after she woke. We had so much fun playing with her – watching her obsession with paper too had me in stitches. Loved her.

{Emily, she was a gem – loved her feisty little nature and getting to know her. Wish we could have played all day!}

Vespa | Baby photography in Melbourne

Beautiful Vespa – one of the happiest babies to visit me in a long time. We got smiles out of her from start to finish – even my cheeks were hurting by the end of it, but she was still at it! The most amazing part about her was her ability to smile with her eyes. Even if her mouth wasn’t moving, those gorgeous eyes of her gave her away completely – you could just melt!

(sigh)…. oh how I love chubba baby feet. What I love most is that at this age, babies are so obsessed with them too so we can share that mutual adoration of their feet together!

{Anouk and Andrew, you have such a special little soul there. I could have cuddled her all day if you’d let me!! Thanks again for the visit (and for the gorgeous wardrobe choices!)}

Reason no. #685 why I love my job | Melbourne baby photography

… because my clients make me cry sometimes.

And no, not in a scary way – but in a beautiful, heartfelt, the-world-is-a-beautiful-place sort of way.

This is what I mean:

Hey Kristen,

Just wanted to say thank you ever so much for our session. We’ve been once again raving about you ever since.

You really are so good with our baby girl. You’re not only a natural at photography, but you really are a natural mother too. That’s why we love you so much. You treat our little munchkin like she was your own.

We’ve had our ‘newborn shots’ on our digital frame since December last year! We’re absolutely hangin’ to put Edition 2 photos up there!  I cant tell you how many people come over here and just stop dead in their tracks and literally dont move from the same spot in front of that frame we have and just stare in awe at your work. And we get a lot of people coming through!!!

Thanks so so much again for everything. No words can express how much we respect and adore you.

We’ve only just come out of this session and already I cant wait for our next session with you!

Cant wait to hear from you,
xx

Yes I am pregnant, and yes I am hormonal, but regardless of that it’s emails like these from clients that give me such joy to be doing what I do. I make no secret of the fact that I fall in love with each and every one of the children I have the good fortune to photograph, and Charlotte was certainly no exception. I remember her newborn photography session like it was yesterday – even what the weather was like and the fact that my clumsy feet broke the glass I had been drinking out of during the session at their home just as I was finishing up (errmmm… yeah.. still SO sorry about that!!). So seeing her again for a beautiful update session was just the icing on the cake for me – it’s an immense privilege to be asked to photograph someone’s family regardless, but to have a family come back for more means that I get to watch these beautiful souls grow up in front of my camera. Seriously…. how special is that??!

So, Angie – you haven’t even seen your images yet from ‘Edition 2′ (which makes that email even more special for me) but hopefully these will tide you over until your full gallery is ready (blog stalkers may recognise Charlotte below from her newborn session I did last year here).

Check out those to die for gorgeous baby fat rolls on her… LOVE!

Harry monster | Baby photography Melbourne

As you can see by the first image, it’s tiring work being a supermodel. Sometimes as much as they want to perform for me in front of the camera, those sandman eyes get the better of them. Lucky for me it was at the end of our session anyway, but this little Harry Monster was such a trooper.

The best part about Harry was the giant smile that came across his face every time he fell over after trying to sit up for a period of time. Most kids would panic as they toppled over but not Harry – it was like a great old game for him! The cheeky grin that he would give as you picked him up would seriously melt your heart. Such a treasure he is!

{So, so lovely to see you again Melinda – you should be so super proud of this little being you have brought into the world. It was such a great pleasure to spend the morning playing with you both – big hugs to Monty!}

Lovely Leah | Baby photography Melbourne

Luscious lips?….. check
Giant squishable cheeks?….check
The most delicious eyelashes you have ever seen?….. check
Hair that people pay good money for?…. check
Cheek dimple when smiling?…. check

Ok, ok, ok…. so I KNOW each session I finish thinking I get to photograph the best looking kids on the planet… but COME ONE!!! Take one look at little Leah and tell me she isn’t just the icing on the cake? As a baby photographer, I may be biased as I think every kid I photograph is pretty darn cute but I did have to excuse myself in front of Leah’s parents for using the phrase “I want to eat you all up” too much in conjunction with a lot of blowing raspberries on her toes. How could you not though?

Urgh…. if you can buy one of these babies somewhere… give me an order for 10!

{Meaghan – one word…. DIVINE! So so happy after her session, and waiting for her to fall asleep (albeit only for 2 mins) was so worth it!}

Oliver the Babe | Baby photographer Melbourne

I have had so many gorgeous babies in my studio of late… and this little man was no exception.

The first thing I wanted to do when I met him was ruffle that gorgeous mop of hair on his head. Don’t you just love it?! He had such a gorgeous little personality. He’s not on the move yet, but boy it won’t be long. Those legs were getting a major workout. Just love, love, love this age!

{So glad we got to capture him when we did Lisa! Such a fun morning with you!}

Baby J | Melbourne baby photographer

Another dark, cold and dreary Melbourne day, but certainly not while this man was around.  He made my world fill with sunshine and rainbows.

His eyes were to-die-for gorgeous and when he stared at me with them, you could really feel his beautiful personality. And of couse, what better way to show off those baby blues than to pop some beanies on him – doesn’t he just melt your heart?!

Caleb and Noah | Melbourne children’s photographer

Meet Caleb – green eyes, green shirt, green wall… does it get any better?!

Yep, that’s baby bro Noah… delish!! He had this adorable comfort habit of putting these two fingers into his mouth (rock on dude!!) and then gaze up at me with the most adorable baby blues complete with long black lashes (both of the boys had lashes most girls would kill for – seriously). Such a happy little thing he was too – such a joy connecting with these beautiful souls!

{What a beautiful morning with your gorgeous boys Paula. Such a treat for me – hugs for Noah and thank Caleb for being such a wonderful helper!}

Yummy Mummy | Maternity photography, Melbourne

There is something completely beautiful about my maternity clients. They have this amazing aura around them that always calms me and makes me happy. This beautiful pregnancy photography session is of the gorgeous Chrissy Torney, so you always know the session will be a special one when another photographer chooses you above all others to capture this amazing event in their lives.

I am so in love with sunlight and maternity – its like a beautiful dance of nature where everything becomes so simple, so pure. We were so incredibly blessed with both our timing and location for this session (which is what happens when you have a photographer as a client that allows you to choose the time and location as I please!) and I had a ball.

Chrissy’s daughter Paige is divine – she and Mia have had a playdate or two in the past, and always enjoy each other’s company. I was just as excited to see Paige at this session as to capture the beauty of Chrissy’s second pregnancy – these girls always make me smile.

{Can’t wait to meet the new addition when they arrive in a few weeks Chrissy , Paigey will make such a gorgeous older sister!}

More of Max | Melbourne baby photography

You know, I just realised it’s June today…

June. How did that happen?!

It’s true what they say that as you get older, life seems to get faster. Now I just need to find that dial to tell life to slow down, before I realise it’s the end of the year and wonder where 2009 went!

I had one of those moments on the weekend when photographing this little dude. He is a previous client of mine and I saw him for itty bitty newborn photography back when he was soooo little!!! I swear it felt like yesterday, and yet – here he was, almost 7 months later and sitting, laughing and virtually crawling all by himself. Loved seeing him again so much!

{How lucky do I feel getting to see him again, Rachael! Hope the rest of your weekend was good, and I will be in touch soon}

Master Louis | Baby photographer, Melbourne

When Emily first contacted me, she was booked in for both maternity photography and newborn photography with me. Unbeknownst to both of us, little Louis decided to arrive way ahead of schedule meaning we didn’t get the chance to do either!!

Instead, we organised for his session to be done now at around six months of age, and I am so glad that we got to capture him at this age. It’s hands down one of my favourites!

The first thing I noticed about him was how expressive his big blue eyes were. When he arrived to me for the session, he was fast asleep and so got a big rude shock waking to my giant camera in his face. We soon had a little chat and play though, and then the beautiful smiles and connection were there from then on.

Seriously, have I said how much I adore what I do?? No? Ok…. I LOVE MY JOB!

{He is such a special little man, Emily and it was such a pleasure to photograph him at this age. Hope he is feeling better soon!}

Baby’s got blue eyes | Melbourne baby photography

Oh, yes she did! Tilly was the most adorable thing on the planet – not even yet 6 months and already completely charming the pants off everyone around her. By the end of her session I wanted to wrap her up and take her home with me – such a gorgeous age!

{Had a beautiful morning with your family S, thanks for sharing it with me!}

Happy Birthday Princess Mia | Melbourne Child Photography

Today was my gorgeous, beautiful, darling Mia’s second birthday.

She is my joy, my sunshine, my life. She is my reason for living and the reason I do what I do.

She makes me smile every day and she knows how to push my buttons, as well as laugh like there is no tomorrow. She knows me better than I ever thought a 2 year old could, and every day surprises me with her beautiful, soft and gentle nature that is a trademark of hers. She absolutely hates it when I sing to her (pity, since anyone that knows me knows I love to sing), loves reading books, cherishes 3:30pm when Hi-5 comes on for the afternoon, loves cuddling by tucking her arms and legs underneath her like a little ball, loves it when I take photos of her just so that she can come and sit with me to have a look at the LCD on the back of the camera, has taken an immense liking to blowing out candles on her birthday cake, hates it when we ask her to close the fridge when she hasn’t finished inspecting everything in there for the 50th time that day, loves jumping into bed to wake up daddy, is obsessed with her stacking cups from Ikea, changes her mind daily on what food she loves or loathes, loves wearing dresses and hates when I don’t let her play/eat the glue sticks that sit in the top drawer of my office.

My princess is obsessed with slides at the moment. Our daily trip to the park turns into a nightmare when trying to get her home as she refuses to leave without a tantrum. We made the quick decision therefore to get a mini playset complete with a slide (or “siiiiiiiide”, as Mia calls it) for her birthday for home. Of course, now that she knows that the slide can flip over to form stairs on the other side, every time she goes up or down she demands that we change it over from one to the other so she can have the best of both worlds at the same time. I am hoping this is only a passing fad for her and she will forget about it by tomorrow…I know, wishful thinking!

Happy 2nd birthday princess
xx

Lexie | Baby Photographer Melbourne

Lexie is not even six months old and was already sitting like a champion so I was so happy to be able to incorporate that milestone into her images.

What I love most about my photography sessions is finding out how I can connect with the people I photograph – and boy did she make me giggle when we found out what got her smiling.  I adore those beautiful connections – the ones where you really feel as though you are capturing the soul and essence of the person gazing into the camera. Darling little Lexie was no exception – adored her and photographing her!

{I’m so proud of her achievements to date Laura, and I could have stayed and ‘chatted’ with her all day long!}
