Studio News (reopening Monday 12 July 2010)

I will be taking a very well deserved break for a little while, and heading off overseas! My beautiful friend Kerianne Brown is going to be welcoming a brand new little man into the world any day now, and I could not feel more honoured and excited to be flying all of the way over to Canada to share in this amazing time in her life and to welcome this little person with such joy and love. I am so grateful to be able to spend some quality time with Kerianne and our gorgeous friend Raye Law who will also be flying over. It has been a long while in the making and I am so looking forward to this beautiful time ahead.

As such the studio will close Monday 14 June 2010 and reopen on Monday 12 July 2010. During this time, I will have very limited access to internet and email and no access to voicemail while I am away (I will not even be taking my phone with me). If the matter is urgent and cannot wait until my return, please send me an email and I will do my best to respond when I can. Otherwise, all voicemail messages and most emails will be returned after Monday 12 July.

Australian Professional Photography Awards | Melbourne baby photographer

Last weekend, the Australian Professional Photography Awards (or the APPAs) were held in Melbourne. This annual event draws talent from all over the country and showcases some amazing work from some very wonderful photographers across a whole broad spectrum of genres. This year, as an emerging photographer, I entered three prints and was fortunate to receive three awards (two silvers and one silver with disinction). Two of these three prints I also entered into the Victorian Professional Photographer of the Year Awards (VPPYs) along with two other prints, and also received two silvers and one silver with distinction at the State awards. I was blown away, to say the least, to be recognised for the work that I do for my clients, by my industry peers. Thank you to the beautiful babes who featured in this work for making those prints as special as they were.

For me though, the best part about this amazing weekend is the opportunity to meet and network with some of the most amazing photographers in Australia. Being able to catch up with those that are positioned all around the country, as well as meeting some fabulous new people make this time what it is. I am seriously humbled and amazed at the wonderful talent that our country has, and just to be part of that last week was a complete honour in itself. Thank you to all of my friends, new and old, for filling my heart with such warmth.

The Special Two | Melbourne twin newborn photography

I waited so long to meet them. Even after the news of their birth every day that went by before I got to say hello seemed like a lifetime of wonderful anticipation. Hours turned to days turned to weeks.  Their journey into this world was not an easy one – they fought, they grew, they battled. Every new breath they took was another beautiful reminder to their mama of just how lucky she was to have them, to love them, to embrace these exquisite miracles that she had waited so long for.

New life is amazing. And these special two have each other.

Lindsey + Fabien | Wedding photography, Melbourne

My lovely friend Lana rang me a while ago and asked if I wanted to join her in photographing the beautiful celebration of love between Lindsey and Fabien. And such a celebration it was…

It always surprises me the effort and care that couples take when planning every single detail of their wedding.  Lindsey’s extraordinary gown was handmade and even her dress maker was present on the day of the wedding to make sure it was fitted to perfection. The flowers… such beauty. I have never seen such an intricate, detailed and well made bouquet in my life. Honestly, these wedding suppliers were second to none. Lindsey and Fabien’s gorgeous girl Elodie walked down the aisle to the music from In the Night Garden and Lindsey entered to Bella’s Lullaby from Twilight – even their music choices were well thought through.

And the venue… Hopewood. I have nothing but fond things to say of this enchanting place. My heart felt instantly happy the second you started walking through the grounds. Such love, and so many beautiful things for eyes to feast upon. It suited Lindey’s French heritage to a tee.

Such beauty and joy…

And the attention to detail continued… right through to the cocktail style ’party’ section of the evening. The reception was divided between two rooms – one room with two long tables for guests to sit down and eat (Lindsey mentioned she wanted it to feel like it was everyone sitting down for a family dinner, and I truly was), and afterwards a gorgeous room completely interior designed by Lindsey right down to the square ottomons to sit on and these little floral arrangements on the tables. Each one was different, but oh so beautiful.

Thank you Lindsey and Fabien for sharing your beautiful love, and allowing Lana and I to document it for you.
