It’s a boy! | Newborn photography, Melbourne

290809_006

Last week, we welcomed into the world our gorgeous baby boy Charlie!

Weighing in at 8lb7oz and after a four hour labour, it is so good to finally have him in our arms. To those who asked, yes – unfortunately I did still have my cold during labour but to be honest, I didn’t really think about it a lot except during the early stages – much more important (read=painful) things to concentrate on! The birth was quick and intense (after labouring for 20 hours with Mia all up, 4 hours was a bit of a shock to the system!) but wonderful in that it turned out exactly as I had hoped for, with just the gas to help me along.

It is such a joy to have him here now and I still stare at him wondering how on earth I could have possibly grown such a complete and perfect little person in only nine months. It is truly an amazing and wonderful thing.

When he cries he looks very much like his sister, but he is most definitely a boy version of her. Even now at just under a week old, he has changed so much already and even though the days are a bit of a blur just rolling into the next, I just want to breathe in every bit of his newness so that I can enjoy it while it lasts. I adore him…

Mia, of course, is besotted by him and reacts every single time he makes a noise (“bebe Sar-wee”) and loves to touch him and give him kisses all over. I even managed to capture some moments of him at just over one day old playing with his big sister and daddy:

My thanks go out to all who have wished us well and come to see us, it means the world to us – so thank you.

And also, I thank each and every client (and enquiring clients!) for your patience during this time and I will try and get to your messages and requests just as soon as I can!

Her last days as an only child | Melbourne baby photographer

Yep, today is my due date… and I’m surprised I actually made it this far. Some of you may be aware from my Twitter updates that I fell ill last weekend and unfortunately for me, the symptoms are not only hanging around, but getting worse (but thank you to everyone who has offered their well wishes). Who said labour wasn’t fun enough – let’s throw in being sick just for laughs!

I will be sure to update the blog as soon as I am back with the gorgeous new addition to our family, but for now, just an image to mark my Little Miss Mia’s last days as an only child (taken by my lovely husband!)

{…and thank you Melissa for being such a gorgeous inspiration x}

What a way to finish | Melbourne newborn photography

*sigh*….

I am on such a beautiful high right now. I am sitting here looking over the images from today’s magical twin newborn photography session feeling so amazingly thankful. Thankful that my work gives me such joy, thankful that I was able to capture these tiny little newborn souls, thankful that I am about to welcome my own little miracle into the world any day now.

These two beautiful babes hold a very special place in my heart, and it was so fitting for me to end my work before maternity leave by photographing their newness. Their gorgeous parents were also patients of the same fertility specialist as we were, and just being able to finally meet these two miracles, let alone have the honour of photographing them, was privilege enough for me. It’s always sentimental for me when I hear that some babies were loved for so long before they even existed and when parents fight with every fibre of their soul to bring their babies into being, and today’s session was no exception. It’s this beauty and power, this love and connection and here I was… amongst it all today, capturing a little tiny piece of their wonderful lives to come.

Please meet the incredible Thomas and Emma…

New and squishy | Newborn photography Melbourne

I tell you what, if I wasn’t due to have a baby any day now, this little chickadee below would make me want to fall pregnant immediately. One of the most chilled out babies I have photographed in ages at only 6 days old. Barely made a peep the whole time I had the opportunity to photograph her – nice to know we made it so cozy for her!

She was full of new, squishy goodness and check out the size of her compared to her daddy’s hands!

{Can I pre-order one just like her C? I want my next to be just as laid back as her (and with that hair too!) - she is so yummy!}

Emma first contacted me when her two little miracles were only teeny-tiny in her belly (just after I announced I was pregnant!) hoping that I would still be able to take some photos of them when they were born despite the fact that I was due in the same month as her. Of course, how could I say no to a newborn session – and not just any newborn session, but twins! Yep, a twin newborn session!

When I finally got the call that they were coming home from hospital, I was seriously giggling like a little school girl. I have not had the chance to photograph newborn twins  in SO very long that by the time their session rocked around, I was so ready! Emma and Brad kept joking that their time in hospital after their birth was a blessing in disguise as it made them super heavy sleepers and pretty much routine babies from day one… hey, works for me!

We played and played all day, and every ounce of newborn goodness we got out of them so was very worth it. Don’t you just want to swoooon?

{Brad and Emma – finally!! I am so happy to have finally met the new additions to your beautiful little family and capture such an innocent and special time for you. I want you to treasure these for years to come – your miracles are deserving of that!}
