Excuse the mess….

Images not working in the blog properly etc…. I am having issues AGAIN with my hosting company and so I am so sorry to those of you who are trying to see images but can’t (and given this is a photography site it sort of defeats the purpose huh?!)

I am trying as quickly as I possibly can to get this resolved, but it’s seriously like pulling teeth! Will update as soon as it’s fixed everyone!!

Kate + Travis | Melbourne wedding photographer

I was so lucky that on the day of my own 5 year wedding anniversary, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Kate and Travis’ wedding day. From the buzz and excitement of the pre-ceremony preparations right through to the gorgeous candlelit reception, the whole day went beautifully. Even the weather turned it right on and gave us the most spectacular conditions for them.

We were so lucky to photograph them in one of the most beautiful locations in Melbourne, being Montsalvat. Kate and Travis combined this as their ceremony/location/reception wedding venue which meant that the guests could enjoy the beautiful surrounds all afternoon.

All of the details were gorgeous from this wedding – loved it to bits!

Be warned… heaps of wedding photography sneak peeks in this post. I have far too many favourites that even limited myself to these was hard enough!

{Travis and Kate – it was an absolute pleasure and an honour to be there to witness and capture this beautiful memory for you. Congratulations to the both of you, and thank you for having me be a part of it}

Baby Hailey | Melbourne Child Photography

This girl was such a cutie. Gorgeously cheeky and loved the camera (literally… we would pop her down and within a second she’d be coming towards me at full speed just so that she could touch it!). Her session was a lot of fun!

Hailey also has this gorgeous vintage highchair which I fell in love with the instant I saw it -but the best bit about her? Those two gorgeous teeth down the bottom that seem to show up every time she smiles!!

{Dean & Monique – loved her cheeky side. She was a gorgeous angel to photograph and made me smile all afternoon. What fun!!}

Freshly baked | Newborn photography Melbourne

Yep, I’m a blogging machine today…need a major catch up!

If nothing else, seeing a tiny little newborn folded up in daddy’s arms gets me every time. Ok well, anyone that knows me knows there a LOT else that ‘gets’ me every time with newborns, but it’s a good example of one of my favourites. Looking at those gorgeous tiny hands clenched up in daddy’s giant ones by comparison makes me go gooey all over – and I still have halfway to go until I get to have photos of my own baking away!

This is the beautiful Emma who came to visit me for a session when she was only 10 days old. She had already learned the art of stretching herself out (realising there was no longer a uterus keeping her curled up!) which made for some very un-ladylike poses at times, but her beautiful nature meant that her session went perfectly and we captured some gorgeous images of this new soul.

{Jacqui, it was my absolute pleasure photographing your beautiful princess for you. I had such a wonderful time with her and can’t wait to show you your gallery when it’s finished!}

A sneak peek for Max | Baby photography, Melbourne

Yet another well-overdue sneak peek for this sweet family!

Max is the youngest of three in this family, and absolutely adores and is adored by his two big sisters. Mum Alison wanted mostly black and white portraits of her little cherub, and he was in full smile mode when I first arrived! He has the most adorable little grin, and check out those bottom two toothy pegs…!

{It was lovely to spend the morning with your little family Alison – it’s obvious the kids love spending time with each other and it won’t be long until Max catches up and can join in on his own terms in the fun!}

I’m baaaaack | Melbourne Baby Photographer

Phew… it’s been a while. I am so sorry for not updating the blog a little sooner after I was due back from holidays – there are lots of reasons that I won’t go into why I wasn’t able to sooner, but I am happy to say that things are now back on track (even though I am still slowly trying to get through all of the emails I accumulated while on my break!)

For those that were asking, yes thank you – we had a wonderful time away and it was lovely to have a short break. We ended up holidaying for a week on the Sunshine Coast (I will post separately about it with some images). The sad part is, like any holiday, once it’s over and you’re back into the swing of things, it hardly feels like you went away!

First though, I do want to share these gorgeous images from little Olivia’s session a little while ago. Check out those massive baby blues and milky white skin! I think this girl had me beat on fair skin – it was divine! The weather on the day we had scheduled for her photo session was absolutely awful in terms of shooting conditions, but beautiful for the garden! It absolutely poured down for most of the time I was there, save for maybe 10 mins were we ran outside, took a couple of photos and then ran back inside to avoid the downpour!

{Lisa, her eyes still get me every time…! I still can’t get over the weather we had that day (very un-Melbourne like!) – we’re so lucky we were able to use the gorgeous light in your home!}

Office Closed: 16-22 March

Just a quick PSA (public service announcement!) – I will be closing up shop all of next week for a well-deserved break.

If you have an emergency that cannot wait until I return to work (Monday 23 March), please feel free to call me on my mobile. Otherwise I will try and answer any email messages or phone messages from Monday the 23rd.

When I get back I will also have some gorgeous sneak peeks to share with you from this week which I can’t wait for, so have a gorgeous week everyone and I will see you all soon!

Pink Pocket Rocket | Melbourne child photography

Two seconds.

That was literally the space of time I had to capture the ‘moments’ of this little one as she stopped running. The best part about watching her running was that she would always make sure someone was running after her before she went into full gear – after all, there’s nothing better than a good chase is there?

You can see what a gorgeous little personality Emmerson is from her images – lots of laughs and giant genuine smiles, big cheeky grin and a mop of hair to die for.

Enjoyed every inch of this girl.

{I adored learning about her little personality at this session, Melinda! She has such a wonderful little sense of humour at such a young age – gorgeous thing she is!}

Ivy and Matt – Pt 2 | Wedding photographer, Melbourne

I know Ivy is very keen to see her wedding images from a couple of weeks ago. I thought I would therefore put up just a little slideshow of some of my favourites from her wedding day so far:

{HINT:Wait for it to load fully by pressing pause and then allow the whole thing to play if your download/internet speed is a bit slow – saves the movie jumping around!}

Love those lashes | Baby Photography, Melbourne

When this lovely family arrived for their session, the star of the show was sound asleep in his car seat oblivious to the fun we were about to have. Of course, I couldn’t resist taking the opportunity to photograph some of the most beautiful eyelashes I have ever seen…

Unfortunately for me, the sound of the camera woke him the second after I took this first shot, so it was the only one we got, but I love it all the same!

Some more from the session:

{It was such a pleasure to finally meet you Deborah!! He did amazingly well and I loved my cuddles with him. His images are gorgeous and I can’t wait to show them to you. I will be in touch when they’re finished!}

My addiction | Newborn photographer, Melbourne

“Hello, my name is Kristen and I am addicted to photographing newborn babies”.

It’s been three days since my last hit… and this little man was so incredibly gorgeous for me. I can’t help it – newborn photography for me is like a natural high. I can’t get enough of it, and every time a newborn session ends for me I have to quickly do a mental note of when my next newborn is booked for and how long I have to wait unitl I can do it again… it’s a sickness really… !!

Tell me though, does life get much better than being able to spend the day with gorgeous little newborn souls who are so squishy and brand new? Not likely…

{Justine, I had a gorgeous morning with you! I am still so incredibly proud of your efforts in birthing a 10lb10oz baby – you are my new superhero!}

Gorgeous little man | Melbourne Baby photography

I can’t help it but every time I look over the proofs from this session and see this adorable face it makes me smile…

He had such spunk, such personality – adored spending the morning with him! Check out those delicious brown eyes and that gorgeous haircut… love it all!

{It was lovely to meet you all – his little smile just melts me, and I had a gorgeous morning. Thanks for the play!!}

… and the toddler runs | Melbourne child photography

Looking through the first 10 frames or so from this session when looking over it upon my return, all I saw was lots of toddler blur and running.

Running, running, running and more running. Yep, it doesn’t get much more toddler than that! I was pulling out every single trick I could think of to get her to stop, just for a moment (as much as I love photographing kids running, I’m sure her parents are looking for a bit more variety than just running shots!) and once we had our groove going, we got some gorgeous results. She was such a gorgeous little thing, and we had a lovely time playing in the garden!

Even though she has her eyes closed as she’s laughing, that shot on the right is one of my favourites at the moment!

{Enjoy Rebecca! Looks like she had a great afternoon yesterday – LOVES that open grass area! What toddler wouldn’t!}

Tiny little miracles | Newborn photography, Melbourne

Gorgeous little Amelia arrived into this world only 6 days before I had the good fortune of taking these images of her. My favourite time to photograph newborns! Once we eventually got her off to sleep, she behaved like a perfect angel for us (love her) and pretty much allowed us to play with her as we pleased.

You may remember big brother Oliver from a few weeks ago when we had a photography session before Amelia’s arrival. When mum Jane was asking me what ideas we had for sibling shots, we weren’t hopeful of the results given the energetic little soul Oliver was and keeping him still while holding Amelia was going to be one hard shot to accomplish. That’s when Jane suggested we wait until Oliver had his nap. I almost didn’t believe her when she said you could do anything to him when he was asleep and he wouldn’t know.

Well, this is the result…

Yep, that’s a fast asleep newborn cuddling into her fast asleep older brother. No jokes.

Oliver was moved into this position, had a squirmy newborn placed on top of him and resettled, all without batting an eyelid. Honestly, I was in hysterics over the whole thing. I still can’t get over the fact he slept through this all!

Some more sneak peeks of baby Amelia:

{Congratulations again J&J on the birth of Amelia. I had a lovely morning with you all, and loved taking Amelia’s images for you. Give both of the kidlets a cuddle from me!}
