Photo-a-day: Day 10 | Kids Photographer, Melbourne

Day 10: This is Mia’s “look” at the moment. Head down, eyes peering over the top of her nose – more often than not she also keeps her head to the side too and looks at you sideways, but this is the look I got from her today as she was eating dinner. She knows it makes us laugh too which is why she does it.

FYI, in case you’re getting sick of day after day of images just of Mia, I did have two client sessions today which I will be blogging about in the coming days, so there will be someone else to feature very shortly!

Photo-a-day: Day 9 | Melbourne Kids Photography

Day 9: Mia adores In The Night Garden. She watches it every morning and gets very excited when all of the different characters appear on the screen. Her face completely changes when that show is on – it is really adorable to watch. For Christmas, Santa got her a few toys and books from In The Night Garden and out of all of them, this book is her favourite. She loves turning the pages and looking at everything in front of her – it’s a feast for her senses page after page. I love watching her read through it!

{As an aside, I have a personal gripe with the Ninky Nonk. So Makka Pakka and the Tombliboos go in the first carriage, the Pontipines and the Wottingers go in the second, and Upsy Daisy and Igglepiggle go in the third. So who on earth goes in the last one??! Bugs me every time… I mean there’s a door there, and a seat inside… so what gives? (oh how stressful my life is… can’t you tell?!) – can anyone help??}

Photo-a-day: Day 8 | Child Photographer, Melbourne

Day 8: Awwww, do I really need to comment on this one?! xx

Photo-a-day: Day 7 | Child Photographer, Melbourne

Day 7: Mia has toast for breakfast almost every morning. She’s so fussy with her food now and it’s one of the few things I know she’ll eat (a little of at least). Every morning I cut her toast into triangles, and every morning she eats the soft part and leaves the rest on her tray as soon as she reaches the crust.

You’ll also notice one piece in each hand – another Mia trait. She rarely eats anything without having food in both hands to swap between.

Photo-a-day: Day 6 | Melbourne Child Photographer

Day 6: It was a warm one in Melbourne today. Mia spent most of the afternoon (apart from sleeping!) in just a nappy.

We’ve used modern cloth nappies with her since she was born, and I absolutely adore them. Apart from being good for the environment, and heaps cheaper than disposables, they are also really cute. My faves at the moment are Mini La La nappies  (Mia’s wearing a sunburst fuschia one-size pocket here) which come in these most incredible colour and pattern range ever! Love them!

Photo-a-day: Day 5 | Melbourne Children’s Photographer

Day 5: Milk before bedtime.

She never used to be a big cow’s milk fan. Hated the stuff in fact – the only way we got it into her was giving her some Weetbix every day. A few months ago we thought we’d try again and now she loves the stuff. Although she doesn’t drink it nearly as much as she used to, she uses it now more as a delaying tactic as she knows the second she finishes it, it’s off to bed she goes.

Day 4: Mia loves her toothbrush. She likes to think she brushes her teeth but really she just chews on it.

Photo-a-day: Day 3 | Melbourne Children’s Photography

Day 3: Yes, that’s right. That’s my Little Miss Mia wearing a beanie, a paper party hat, a headband and a big white fluffy scarf outside in Summer. And yes, she’s in her pjs and slippers too. She is all class…

I put the beanie on her as she was rummaging through my prop stash this afternoon. she thought it was pretty hilarious and then kept handing me things to put on her saying ‘more, more more’ (everything is ‘more’ to her right now) – hey, who was I to say no?!

I cannot get this girl back inside whenever we go out during the day. Whether it be a play outside, or a trip to the park, or a ‘quick’ check of the mailbox she absolutely refuses to come back inside until she has had enough. Any sooner, and it’s tantrum city!

On a personal note, I am really excited to be doing this photo-a-day project. It’s made me want to capture all of those glorious little day to day moments like these that we just take for granted as the ordinary. These are the special moments though, the ones that make you smile, cry…. feel. There is nothing ordinary about them. Everything is extraordinary when looking at the world through the eyes of a child.

Day 2: Mia pretended to sleep today… she didn’t though.

Happy New Year! | Melbourne Children’s Photographer

So… here we are! 2009. Two-thousand-and-nine… can you believe it?

It has been an amazing, incredible and fantastic year, and I want to thank each and every client for trusting me to share in your lives with you. I know that 2009 is only going to be even bigger and better, and I cannot wait for what is in store!

I have decided to take part in a little ‘photo-a-day’ project of my little Miss Mia this January, so every day for a month, I will be taking one photo of her and popping it on the blog. I don’t take nearly as many photos as I would like to of her, and this is my way of being able to showcase her life over a month with little snippets along the way.

So, to start us off, here is today’s photo. Mia, at age 19 months, indulging in one of her favourite activities – playing on our bed with our dog Cleo:
