Photo-a-day: Day 31 | Melbourne Child Photography

Day 31: Took this just after Mia woke up from her afternoon nap today. It is still hot here at the moment and it’s playing havoc with her sleeping during the day. Poor poppet – I don’t blame her! I don’t sleep well in this heat either – who does? She’s looking out of her bedroom window here… love her.

So there you have it – that’s all folks. A photo a day for the month of January. DONE!

Hope you enjoyed it :)

Couldn’t ask for more | Newborn photographer, Melbourne

Ok, so it was still hot – boiling hot, but that just meant that this gorgeous, tiny little newborn baby slept beautifully for me the whole time I was there as he was so nice and toasty being in his birthday suit!

When I photographed Claire for her maternity session, I was itching to come back for her newborn session after William arrived. Knowing what was in store for me at their home, I couldn’t wait to try out all of the wonderful ideas I had in my head. When I can use gorgeous surrounds like this in client’s homes, it just makes on location photography work all the more rewarding.

And yes, I have gone completely overboard with sneak peeks, but really – can you help it when the subjects are this cute??

And just to show you the kind of dedication I give to my clients – yes I do still work in this temperature!! This was taken on the way home in my car (and no, I was not driving it at the same time!)

{What a perfect little angel he was Claire! I absolutely loved every minute of it and wish I could do it all over again. Thank you for having me capture such a precious moment in his life, and I can’t wait to see him grow up!}

Day 30: Mia gets into my things if I don’t put them away after a shoot- especially my baskets. She loves  hopping in them just like she’s a newborn or (smaller) baby at one of my sessions. This basket is her fave though – she sits there and rocks it forward and back for a bit of fun.

One more day left of this project! January has gone a whole lot faster for this reason, let me tell you!

Photo-a-day: Day 29 | Kids Photographer, Melbourne

Day 29: Sometimes it’s the simple (and cheap) toys that bring the most pleasure! Mia loves to pour tea into the cups and drink them (and hand them out for others to drink).

When we originally got it for her, it was her first attempt at imaginary play, and it still makes me smile to watch her playing with it.

Hot, hot, hooooooot! | Melbourne Children’s Photographer

Anyone in Melbourne right now (or Adelaide!) will be able to sympathise with our extreme weather conditions right now. It’s ridiculous – it really is. And fortunately for me, I just happened to have two shoots scheduled during the hottest days on record for…. well, ever as far as I am concerned!

Thankfully both shoots were indoors, but that didn’t stop the sweat pouring as I worked away! You’ve still gotta keep moving! This is a sneak peek from Nasios’ session yesterday – a mass of curly hair and giant big brown eyes that were fixated on my camera most of the time! Lucky me!

{Chris and Anglea, it was lovely to meet the both of you and I will be in touch as soon as your proofs are ready to view!}

Photo-a-day: Day 28 | Kids Photographer, Melbourne

Day 28: Mia’s favourite new word of the moment is “Fow-wa” (flower). She wants to point to them, wants me to draw them, wants to smell them… all so she can say “fow-wa” all day long. Makes me smile every time she does too – definitely the ‘cutest’ word she has learned to say so far!

Photo-a-day: Day 27 | Baby Photographer, Melbourne

Day 27: She’s gorgeous even with Weetbix all over her face.

Feeding her is a constant battle though… she refuses for us to help her, but she hasn’t mastered the art yet of using a spoon with dripping milk and not losing everything on the way to her mouth. She has a good time though, and that’s what matters!

Photo-a-day: Day 26 | Baby Photography, Melbourne

Day 26: This is about as Australian as I could get Mia’s photo today. A jar of Vegemite… ah well. I try!!

Happy Australia Day everyone!! x

Noah and Lucy | Children’s Photographer, Melbourne

We were blessed with incredibly gorgeous weather this weekend in Melbourne – it was perfect. So nice to be outdoors, and lucky for me, my Sunday session was a beautiful session outdoors.

I got to play all morning with gorgeous little Noah and Lucy – Noah and I hunted for monsters and played Ernie Says (which apparently is Noah’s new version of Simon Says, I have so much to learn…!) and Lucy, who adored her big brother, followed him wherever he went!

{You can’t ask for more than kids being kids Ali, and that is the beauty of your children. Gorgeous souls, and I had a lovely morning with you all. I will be in touch soon}

Photo-a-day: Day 25 | Melbourne Baby Photographer

Day 25: One of Mia’s favourite things to do… draw.

Of course, she loves to draw on anything and if you don’t watch her every second, it’s not uncommon to find a lovely “Mia Cook” original on the wall, floor, couch or tv cabinet…

10 day old Harley | Melbourne Newborn Photographer

Harley was my first newborn session for 2009 – all 7-ish pounds of him! I’ve included some ‘bits’ photos in my sneak peek today because it’s all of those tiny little newborn baby bits that I love to photograph so much!

He was such a little darling for me once we got him settled (either that or he just tired himself out and gave up….!) and wished I could have cuddled him all day long!

{Joey and Tim, it was my pleasure to spend the morning with you! I hope that sauna of a house has now gone back to normal and you are not frying like an egg inside anymore!}

Photo-a-day: Day 24 | Kids Photographer, Melbourne

Day 24: Hanging out in Mia’s bedroom. The words above her cot on her wall say it all – yes, I dream big things for her (but I also wish sometimes she’d dream at night too when she’s up chatting to herself at midnight every now and again!)

La la laaaaa | Commercial photography, Melbourne

I was so excited to be doing some commercial product photography for Carli of MiniLaLa today. I’ve mentioned before how much I adore her nappies, so to be able to photograph them on her gorgeous darling baby girl Ivie was even more of a treat for me.

These nappies are just heaven for cloth bummed babies! MiniLaLa nappies are great because they are just the most stylish cloth nappies out there on the market – no exceptions!

See for yourself!

{Carli, Nicholas and Ivie are welcome to come over and play ANY time they like!}

Photo-a-day: Day 23 | Melbourne Kids Photography

Day 23: It’s not often we get big belly laughs like this from her. Normally they are only reserved for our dog Cleo but today, she was full of them! We had some gorgeous visitors for a session today which gave Mia a playmate for the afternoon (sneak peeks to come) and she absolutely loved it!

Photo-a-day: Day 22 | Children’s Photography, Melbourne

Day 22: Another hot day in Melbourne today. And WINDY!!!! I hate wind more than I hate heat… but both together? That’s staying inside sort of weather for me!

Mia has spent most of the day in just her nappy today (apart from our outing this morning) and boy does she love it. I also love how she finds a new fascination with old toys – this spinning top was purchased for her ages ago, and she’s only just fallen in love with it all over again.
