Baby Doll

Isabelle was my little living doll yesterday. A gorgeous little expressive face and personality with the most adorable eyes (definitely a girl’s eyes, those eyes!)

You can always tell when teeth are on the way when you can barely get a photo without fingers in the mouth! She was so gorgeous – and so funny to watch her interact with her parents. Mum adores her little girl and desperately wants to make her a ‘girly girl’ with all of the most wonderful pretty things you’ve ever seen. The minute dad comes into the picture though, the overalls come on and the rough and tumble starts… hilarious! And she obviously takes to both sides of her personality with ease!

{Sonya, it was lovely to spend the morning with you (so thanks for living so close to me!) – thanks for the tea and chat, and I hope you enjoy the sneak peeks}

Little Pirate Ollie

Welcome to Spring Melbourne! Ahhhh – GLORIOUS weather we’re having. I adore it. It’s not too hot but not so cold you can’t spend the day outside. The sunshine has been so lovely and I have been so fortunate that both yesterday and today I was lucky enough to take advantage of the great weather by having two children’s photography sessions!

I’ll post some sneak peeks from today in the next day or so, but first I wanted to share some from yesterday. Ok, I admit – I personally think I photograph every cute kid that lives in Melbourne (though I am sure there are more out there I just haven’t met yet) and little Oliver is right up there with them. He just turned one and had a pirate party on the weekend – hence the hat…. “aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh me hearty” (yes, that’s my best pirate impersonation, and that’s all I’m giving you!) but don’t you just want to dive into those big brown eyes?!

This next shot has to be one of my all-time faves – I love ‘moments’, and this one with his mum makes me smile from ear to ear every time I look at it.

I’ll stop my sneak peek here before I go overboard because I have many from this session, but this will do for now!

{That little pirate of yours stole my heart Melanie, and I’m sure there will be many more broken hearts to come!! Thank you for having me for the afternoon – had an absolute ball!}

Six days old

Although I love my colour, there is often nothing better than the timeless black and white portrait of a newborn. I adore black and white photographs for newborn photography -it’s clean, classic and allows you to focus in on that tiny little baby that’s just been brought into this world.

Gorgeous little Andrew was Sunday’s six day old baby newborn and he was so good for me. Very sleepy, lovely and curly and was happy to let me position him with little fuss. I adored him!

And happy birthday to my darling husband David who also celebrated his birthday on Sunday!!

{C, it was so very lovely to finally meet you and what an absolute pleasure it was to be chosen to photograph Andrew in his first few days of life. It was an honour, and I loved every minute of it!}

Another typical Melbourne Saturday

Typical Melbourne today – woke up, it was sunny. Drove to my baby photography session today…. windy and just starting to rain. Then, of course, it continued to rain for the first hour I was there which meant limited opportunity to take photos anywhere other than inside. Finally, just before we’re due to finish, the sun decides to come out and the wind clears up slightly… typical! Just what a photographer needs!

That didn’t stop little Heidi today though either (who let me tell you, so suited her name… just thought she ‘looked’ so much like a Heidi!) and this little pink dress (which was her second outfit) was oh-so-adorable.

Um, hello – check out those eyes of hers!

{Jacinta, I think that nap worked a treat – lots of grins and giggles from her, and I love how much she adored being outside! She’s a keeper!}

Ebony and Anabel

I was so fortunate to spend the morning with Ebony and Anabel yesterday – two of the most beautiful little things I have had the opportunity to photograph! The good news for me was that they were pretty much up for anything and loved taking me around the house showing me all of their favourite things.

Their smiles were beyond infectious – I think my jaw was hurting from giggling all morning with them! Big sister Ebony was a riot – could seriously not get her away from the camera…

And little sister Anabel – cute as a button and wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home with me.

It will be lots and lots of fun editing this session!!

{I hope the girls enjoyed themselves Michelle!! Thanks so much for the tea and the lovely morning, and I will be in touch with the rest of your proofs in a few weeks!}

{Per-fec-tion}

Ok, so I usually only post a few photos in my sneak peeks, but today’s newborn photography session with gorgeous, tiny and perfect baby Vivienne made me want to sit down and edit her whole session tonight :)

Baby Vivienne was a dream – she slept from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. She didn’t mind being moved around or positioned, and loved being naked curled up on my beanbag. I was in newborn photographer heaven!!

I kept teasing her parents about how I should have brought a video camera with me so that I could tape the session as a “how to” for other newborns so they can follow her shining example… !!

So, here are some of my favourites from today. This first image is the rocking chair in her nursery… I am in LOVE with it. Is it wrong that I want one for me too?!

She worked so hard for this next shot!! But it was SO worth it…

Her mum really wanted to get a shot of her in my bowl after seeing it on my website, so we wrapped her in my gorgeous cream chunky wrap and snapped away!

Ahhhh…. baby feet? Check! Baby fingers? Check! Curled up adorable newborn? Check! Clucky photographer??? DING DING DING!!

And one of my faves from today (just to show how beautifully sleepy she was today!)

{I was on such a high after leaving your place Anna as she was such a joy and I really could have stayed there all day taking lots and lots of photos until I’m sure you would have kicked me out! Give her a big cuddle and kiss from me!}

Sunday sneaky peek!

I can usually always spot the early talkers when I photograph kidlets… they’re usually the ones who chatter away non-stop, are very assertive and confident, and love to tell me out anything and everything. Neivh was no exception – she kept me entertained for the entire time I was there. We kept watch for goblins in the garden, we played with her pet dinosaur Bronty and we collected ‘food’ (aka leaves, berries, flowers) from the garden for our tea party.

Little sister Shyla was such a trooper… as younger siblings usually are! Neivh adored Shyla, and it was so wonderful to watch them interact even if it meant Shyla getting lovingly pushed around by her well-meaning big sister. Didn’t bother her in the slightest… she obviously loves her big sister too!

{It was a pleasure to spend some time on Father’s Day with your family Angeline. Thank you for having me do this for you!}

Happy Father’s Day

A big happy Father’s Day to all of the dads and dads-to-be on this wonderful day. I hope you are all enjoying the day with your precious families and loved ones.

Enjoy!

Three in a row

Yep, I’m pretty lucky… today I had my third newbie baby in a row – I wish every day could be newborn day.

I got to meet little Jasper today who flat out refused to sleep for the first couple of hours I was there. We fed him, we rocked him, we patted, we played music, got the heat going…. nothing. He was up for action!! I haven’t let a newborn ‘beat’ me yet, and today was no exception. We had to be very creative (and quick) with our posing today as even though we did get him to sleep a few times, it would only last around three minutes before he’d decided he’d had enough and wake himself right up again. It was a long day, but his parents were superstars – stayed completely relaxed and happy to go with the flow which made everything a lot easier.

My newborns will always dictate the way a session will go – I will rarely be able to walk into a session knowing exactly what sort of shots I will end up with as they will always change depending on the baby – that’s the beauty of newborns! They have their own agenda!

{After all of that fighting to stay awake and those arms having a life of their own Janelle, I would hope he sleeps well for you tonight!! I was so pleased we found his ‘groove’ after a while – after all, how mean are we trying to make him sleep when he doesn’t want to?!}

And on the second day…

I got to have another newborn fix ;)

Meet two week old Xavier -

Don’t you just want to eat him up?!

We had to be very patient for this little man today who decided that today all he wanted to do was eat, and eat and eat. We got a good 20 minutes of deep sleep out of him during which time I was snapping away madly from any different angle I could think of and trying slowly to move him into different positions without him waking, but once he had enough, he let us know!! We may have only got 20 minutes sleep out of him, but it was so worth it…

{He’s a milk man Debbie, what can I say? You’re doing a fine job!! Keep up the great work and give him a giant cuddle from me}
