Mothers Network Mini Sessions

Had a series of mini-sessions today for the lovely mums at Mothers Network. Mothers Network is a not-for-profit charitable organisation founded and run by local volunteer mothers within the Melton East and Brimbank communities. It’s a fabulous little group where the mums can all get together for a coffee and a chat and the children can play with each other in the wonderful facilities provided by the Council.

It was tiring and challenging – but still fun. So many gorgeous little kidlets that I got to play with today and enjoyed every moment of it. I had a big smile on my face this evening as I was uploading all of the shots from today and going through them seeing all these happy smiling faces.

Have a mentioned lately how much I love my job…??

Dylan’s sneak peek

Just a quick sneak peek from yesterday’s session with the adorable little Dylan. This little kid was so spunky and had me in giggles most of the afternoon. He absolutely adored being outside and spent most of it simply running around and around and around!

We were lucky that for the time that I was there the rain held off and we were able to use the lovely light outside to get these shots for Dylan. He certainly enjoyed himself out there, that’s for sure!

{Hope Dylan slept well for you Nancy! Thanks again for having me over}

Playing tag again!

The gorgeously talented Kris Leigh tagged me in her blog the other day (thanks Kris!) so I get to play another round of blog tag with some new stuff to learn about me:

  1. Ten years ago… I was in my first year uni at the University of Melbourne, and I was living in Port Melbourne. I had met my husband-to-be that year and bought my first car – a red Ford Festiva, which turned out to be the biggest ‘bad luck’ magnet I’ve ever owned. Safe to say that beauty is now in car heaven…
  2. 5 things on my to do list… Proofing, proofing, proofing, proofing and proofing. LOL Alright, well maybe proofing, take some photos of Mia, clean up my study, get my tax stuff together so I can go and see my accountant and reorganise my work calendar.
  3. Snacks I enjoy… this is a hard one for me! I like a lot!! I do have to say though that freshly baked cinnamon doughnuts that are still hot are pretty hard to beat.
  4. If I were a millionaire… I hate this question because I always change my mind. But right NOW, I’d pay off the house, move somewhere with a great natural light studio central to Melbourne (or somewhere where I have space to build one at least), invest some of it (for a rainy day!), book a trip to Canada to visit Kerianne and to the US to see Raye, make a trip to the UK to visit my ever increasing list of friends that all seem to move away from me to there (hmm… it’s a worrying trend!!), upgrade all of my gear, drive an eco-friendly car (I agree Kris!) and get an admin helper so that I can palm all of the boring admin stuff onto them so I can spend more time with my family :) Oh oh… and go on a holiday with my family – somewhere expensive just because I could!
  5. Places I’ve lived… Melbourne and Brisbane

I’ve just tagged some people last time so I will try and tag only a couple of people this time that I didn’t tag earlier (and who hopefully haven’t been tagged yet or in a while!): the wonderfully talented Lana and my lovely room buddy for the Jinky workshop Nicole

What Aussies do in Winter

So it’s a Friday morning… the sun is shining, the birds are singing.

It’s about 13 degrees celcius (brrrrrrr) and so yep, we go to the beach and eat icecreams like it’s 30 degrees, not 13! Lucky for me, Jack didn’t mind in the slightest. In fact, the battle was getting him back off the beach and away from the sand – he was quite content to sit and play there all morning I’m sure. The odd bribe here and there (amazing what effect stickers can have on three year olds) made things slightly easier, although pulling out the icecream at the end of the session was just what he needed.

What else do you do on a Winter morning?!

{It was really lovely to meet you this morning Rachael! Jack was a superstar – I love him!!}

Oooh yeah – now it’s a new WEBSITE!

Just when you thought things couldn’t get more exciting with a brand spanking new blog, now I have a whole new website as well!

www.kristencook.com.au

It’s pretty, it’s got big lovely images, a rocking availability calendar, a client lounge and loads more. Like my blog it’s something I’ve been working on in the background for… well… far far too long to mention, but I’m pleased to say it’s finally live for you all to see :)

Yaaaaay!!!

Happy birthday Miette

Happy birthday to darling little Miette who turned 1 yesterday. I was asked by her mum Hayley to come over yesterday and take some very photos on her very special day.

After seeing my first birtday photos of my Little Miss Mia here, Hayley wanted to also try something similar with Miette. Now it was a little too cold and wet to be outside, so we tried setting the scene in Miette’s little room. She wasn’t quite sure how to take the whole situation. First she just sat there and looked at it for a while (probably at that weird looking melting cream coming out of the side of her cake…!! LOL) and then she went straight for her candle (it wasn’t lit… hold the phone!)

After we played with the cake, and the adults had a bit of their own food fight indoors, we then went outside for some play time as well. Oh, and YUMMO to my new lens… so in love right now!

We shoud start a ‘spot Mia’s Oobi beanie’ competition… LOL Who’s up for it?!

{A big happy birthday again to Miette Hayley, it was lovely to see both of you and nice to know we’ll soon be ‘neighbours’! See you again soon!}

New BLOG!

Yep, if you’re reading this and you’re a regular to my blog, then you’ll notice there’s a change…

NEW BLOG!! Woohoooo!

You wait until you see how big those photos can get in this blog… LOVE it. I just wish I had it up and running like a month ago when I first organised it… but… you know, things happen… LOL

IMPORTANT: If you were subscribed to my blog last time via my old link – please take the time to put in your email address to the subcribe link in the menu above so you can be on my new subscription list!!

Jinky Joy!

You know when you get so excited about something you think you’re going to burst? The kind of excitement where you just want to run around the house to get the adrenalin out, or jump up and down on the spot to get that heart pumping?

That’s how I feel right NOW…!

I’m going to THE workshop I’ve been waiting for this October – run by the guru of children’s photography in Australia (and one of the best of her field in the world as well!), Barb Uil of Jinky Art. I have to wait three months before I can get there, but boy I am so excited about this one. Can’t wait to meet her.

My place is now booked and paid – now I just need to organise some flights, and I am done!!

Did I tell you I was excited?!

Three sisters

Yesterday was so much fun. I got to spend it playing with three absolutley gorgeous little girls, all of whom adored each other and were so great to work with.

Little Sarah, the youngest – so cute and cuddly. She absolutely adored her older sisters, and no one got bigger belly laughs than her sister Charlotte trying to make her laugh.

Next it was Charlotte’s turn… with one of the most amazing gazes on her I’ve seen. I am so in love with her stares!

But her laughs are just divine too!

Last but not least, I got to play with big sister Olivia – so lovely, so gorgeous and so well behaved! I think I got her photos done in record time. I love this shot of her on the bed!

{Meaghan – I hope the girls had a fun morning! Thanks for having me do this for you while you were in town, and hope you had a safe trip home!}

I’m tired…

Three sessions in one day… and all in Ballarat! I’m a bit exhausted ;)

My three lovely clients are all sisters, all wanting some photos taken of their kidlets so we took this opportunity while I was making the trip already to get them done for everyone.

First up was little Brodie who’s turning two soon. Loved his blue hoodie and his vest!

Next up was cousin Tayah – gorgeous as anything but wanted absolutely nothing to do with me or my camera (don’t blame her really! LOL). Poor thing was very tired, and probably wondered what on earth we were all putting her through when all she wanted to do was to go to bed!! Thankfully she did stop moving just a few times long enough for me to snap a couple before crawling off again.

And finally, little Summer – my little supermodel who honestly made my job look easy! Just learning to sit up so didn’t move anywhere (photographer’s dream LOL) and smiled on cue… very well trained baby!

{Pleasure to meet all of you and your lovely families!! Will be in touch when the rest are ready in a few weeks time, so for now – enjoy these!}
