Things that make you go Mmmmm…

At least, for me…!!

Meet the newest addition to my lineup:

Just look at all of that glass….. DROOOOOOOL.

I have been lusting after this lens ever since I first became interested in photography; arguably the best portrait lens ever made by Canon and now I own one… I didn’t even want to take it out of the box (and you know right after I took these shots I was so paranoid it went straight back into its box again). Maybe tomorrow I might even work up enough courage to… (gasp)… take a PHOTO with it?! ;)

Have a good day everyone!

Love, Actually!

I loved this family – I loved them because they loved each other. The kids adored each other, the parent laughed with the kidlets, there were a few ‘darlings’ thrown around between the parents too (or maybe it was sweetie, whatever it was… it was gorgeous!)

I love the name Lucy, and I love that her favourite book was called “My New Baby” which she proudly read to me from her big girl bed…

I love her brother Liam, who gave the biggest, most heartfelt giggles I’ve seen from a three month old baby yet…

I love that we were able to incorporate one of the blankets that dad used as a baby in today’s photo session with Liam…

And finally, I love - no, I adore the giant grin that came across my face when I opened up this photo of Lucy playing peek-a-boo in the backyard. I love that I can still hear her laughing…

{I have too many favourites from today Adele, so I hope these will suffice for now. What a great morning – thanks for the yummy muffins and I will be in touch soon!}

Another breath of new life

… and her name is Ruby :)

(Yep, it’s tiring work being a supermodel…)

{Thank you Kate and Tully  for allowing me to photograph Ruby when she’s so shiny and new. If you can pry yourselves away from looking at her in person for a few moments, I hope you get a chance to enjoy your sneak peeks too}

The Divine Miss M

Madison is so completely gorgeous (as you can see), knows how to accessorise and is so smitten by her doggie Bella it was hilarious.

{She must be the talk of your street the way all of your neighbours came to say hello Paola – and why wouldn’t she be? She is scrumptious!!}

A tea party in the gardens

The weather was absolutely stunning yesterday and I was so pleased to have a practice portfolio session lined up to take advantage of it! Spent the morning at the Botanical Gardens with these two cuties having tea parties, searching for fairies, playing hide-and-seek and chasey.

Here are some of my favourites from the morning:

And my all-time favourite from this session (I love these moments frozen in time!):

{Melinda – how gorgeous are they?! Had a lovely morning with them – hope they weren’t too tired in the car home!}

Twin miracles

Yesterday I had the great honour of doing my first twin newborn session for tiny little Mahli and Hamish.

This session already had a special place in my heart. Both Bree (their mum) and I went to the same fertility specialist to conceive our little miracles and I felt so lucky to be able to see them so soon after their grand entrance into this big wide world!!

Newborn sessions always take a lot out of me, so I knew that a twin session would probably be a lot harder and I was right. It’s difficult enough sometimes just to get one baby to sleep, but trying to get two to sleep, and not only sleep but at the same time as one another, is a difficult task.

As we tried to position them in their sleepy state, there were elbows in eyes, toes up noses, fingers in belly buttons – yet the amazing thing was that even after they kicked, and pinched and poked one another, they seemed more calmed by the fact the other one was there than when they were apart. It was so beautiful to watch.

{Bree – ahhhhh, breathe in and breathe out. They (and you!) did a marvellous job yesterday and you should be very proud of them. I was feel very honoured to have photographed them at this point in their lives – thank you for having me over to do so}

Weekend sneak peeks

It is so lovely to be around kids that genuinely get along well with each other, it really is. Sure, they get on each other’s nerves just like any siblings, but these two cuties from Saturday were so fun to be around.

There were no shortage of giggles and grins from these two that’s for sure, and hopefully they were having as much fun as they appeared to be having!

Love this shot – my fave from the session. I didn’t even tell them to grab each other’s hand; they did that all on their own! CUUUUTE!

And another one, because they were so cute:

{I hope the kids had a wonderful afternoon Adriana and that you enjoy the sneak peeks}

Tag – you’re it!

Looks like I’ve been tagged by Angela Higgins! For those unfamiliar with the concept, it’s like an internet version of chain letters (only a lot more fun!) – someone ‘tags’ your blog, you tag them back as well as 5 other people while also revealing intimate details about your life (well, not quite, but hopefully they’re interesting enough!)

So, here’s how it goes:

  • Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
  • Share 5 things other people may not know about you (other version is naming songs you’re embarrassed to admit you like, but there would be far too many of those LOL).
  • Tag 5 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
  • Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

So… my five things (in no particular order) are:

  1. I have an unhealthy obsession with my emails – the more I get, the more I start to panic when it’s been 5 minutes and I haven’t received a new one. Honestly, I receive so many emails in one day my husband finds it hard to believe that when I’m out and come home that I have 20+ emails sitting there waiting for responses. I have forbidden myself to buy a Blackberry as that would only increase my dependency on my email for sure. It’s a sickness, really!
  2. I was a lawyer in my former life (pre-Mia days!). As my family love to remind me – I spent six years at uni, graduated with honours, spent three and a half years working in the profession to now sit here with my baby and play with my camera. People keep asking me if I miss it and for the moment, not in the slightest. I miss the law, but I certainly don’t miss being a lawyer. I work longer and harder now as a full time mum as well than I ever did as a lawyer, but you cannot beat the personal rewards and job satisfaction!
  3. I’m actually quite shy, which would be a surprise to a lot of people. Yep, I was a lawyer – at school, I was the one in the school plays, I would sing in concerts, I was in the debating team and yet, I’m certainly no extrovert. My idea of a good time is to be lying on the couch, in my trackies, eating cookies and cream icecream straight from the tub, while watching episodes of Friends. Life doesn’t get any better than that!
  4. My nose is scary – it has no bones in it. Well, it does, I’m sure somewhere, but I can literally press the bridge of my nose down so it’s almost flat against my face. It’s disgusting really. It was the best party trick at school though and for some reason everyone found it hilarious. Speaking of which, I haven’t actually done it in years now… I wonder if I still can?….. yep…. I can!
  5. I’m a major sook. No, really – I am. MAJOR. I cry at the drop of a hat, anything will get the waterworks going (oh, the last time was when I watching that damn Worksafe ad yesterday where the father walks into his little girl’s school play just in time to see her on stage, and he gives her that reassuring look and she smiles back….!! AHHHHHHHHHHH – kills me EVERY time!). I had to watch “The Notebook”  five times because every time I watched it I was crying so hard that I would miss bits of it. I gush over everything – I’ve always been a major gusher. Babies, weddings, puppies… you name it, I gush! I suppose that’s a good thing really given what I do - I completely gush over my kidlets that I meet at every one of my sessions because they are all adorable. Every single one of them! And don’t even get me started on my own little princess… no, no, I can’t, cause the tears are starting already and I need to go to bed!

So, there’s five random things about me! Now, I’m going to go ahead and tag my gorgeous soul-sister Kerianne Brown, the incredibly amazing Raye Law, the lovely Penelope Smith, the wonderful Danielle Stahl and the beautiful Robyn Geering.

Back for more

You may remember Twyla and Peter from their session I did for them a few months ago. Twyla was pregnant at the time, and has since given birth to the adorable little princess you see here:

When Twyla emailed me shortly after her birth she said “The baby’s name is Amaryn Ava. Amaryn means rain (aboriginal in origin). It was a pretty heavy storm the night she was born. Ava means bird in Latin…she’s a tiny thing, 6 lbs even.” I couldn’t think of a more fitting name for this little cherub and only made it that extra special to know that they had such meaning for the family. So gorgeous!

So today, I finally got to meet little Amaryn, her daddy Todd and of course, see the gorgeous Mr Peter and Twyla again.

We also went to the park to get some family photos done as well – this was one of my favourites from the day as well!

\

And finally, one just for Twyla…!! Nice face Todd!!

{How honoured am I to not only be able to take photographs for you family once, but twice? I adored my morning, Amaryn is a gorgeous little thing and Peter will always have a place in my heart!}

A very quick one

I have a screaming child that I have to attend to, but I wanted to get these sneak peeks up before I forgot – darling little Angus and his baby sister Georgie. Yummy kids, yummy home and an all round yummy morning!

{Enjoy the sneak peeks Andrea – see that sitting down on the footpath thing wasn’t a bad idea!!}
