Watch out Brisbane…

That’s right – I might be coming up to Brissie soon!!

I’ve had a few people contact me from Brisbane expressing some interest in having a photo session done, and so I’m sending my feelers out to see if there are others who may be interested too. If there’s enough interest I’m planning to come up for the weekend of 31 May/ 1 June 2008 (Saturday and Sunday).

I will be doing sessions in a package only (one set price for the session, proofing and then all proofs on CD in high res for you to print as you wish, plus some extras) to keep my travel and accommodation expenses in check, but if you want more than just the package that’s more than fine. The package purchase will merely be the minimum spend. The sessions will last 1-2 hours.

At the moment, my thoughts are to base myself in the city and perhaps use the South Bank parklands for everyone so that I’m not driving all over a city taking 3 hours to find places that are only 10 minutes away… haha!

If you want more details on how the days will be structured, pricing or want to put your hand up to come and play with me, please send me an email :D

Congratulations Deb

Remember my maternity photoshoot from earlier this week? Well, I just heard that Deb had her baby last night – little Cooper born 3-4 weeks early. Aren’t we lucky we got in when we did??

Welcome to the world little Cooper, can’t wait to meet you and congratulations again Deb and Dan! :D

Little Miracles

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get over the miracle of new life, and I suppose that’s a good thing given what I do ;)

When I was pregnant with Mia I felt so honoured and privileged to be in a position where I was going to be bringing a new life into the world and to be blessed with the responsibility of caring for a baby, a child, a daughter.

Nawww, now I’ve gone all sentimental on you… sorry ’bout that!

I do have to confess that my sentimentality was spawned from yesterday’s newborn session with little Maddison. At only 8 days old (that’s right… eight days…) I was so lucky to be able to capture her first few days into this world. She was a lively little thing this one! Apparently she’d been up for a while even before I arrived and yet no amount of tiredness or coaxing from us was enough to make her sleep! Finally though, after another good feed (yum!) she decided she would just give in….

I’ve decided that milk drunk is my all-time favourite look for newborns. You just can’t get better than that!! SO adorable!

Hey – and check out that smile below… I have the BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!!

brennan216-fave.jpg

… and doesn’t she have the perfect pout?

brennan095.jpg

Ahhh… that’s enough hormonal overload for me for today.

{Katy – make sure you keep looking at her 24/7 because before you know it 9 months will pass and you’ll be sitting there like I am now wondering where the time went…}

Great Expectations

What’s better than a newborn? A newborn in waiting!! :)

I had the pleasure of being asked to take some maternity photographs for D today and had a blast. The wonderful thing about D was that she was completely relaxed about everything and it meant we could experiment with some great poses and ideas. It’s fantastic when clients allow you to just run with it and see what happens, and that’s pretty much how today’s session went.

D’s only got just over a month to go now in her pregnancy and she is absolutely glowing – an absolutely gorgeous belly for a gorgeous girl.

{Hope you had fun today and you enjoy the sneaky peeks D}

A day on the farm

Of the strawberry variety that is…!

One of my bubs from today’s photoshoot was sick, so it meant I got the day to spend with my family!! We decided to go for a drive, and ended up at one of the local strawberry farms that allow you to go in and pick your own fruit.

Mia loved it. She spent half the time totally mesmerised by the colours

and when that got boring, she spent the other half trying to put them in her mouth.

And finally – one for fun… (she’s getting so big now – it makes me sad!)

Easy street

Yup, that’s what it felt like today… even though I had two kiddos to photograph, it was blissfully easy!

Miss Madison was an absolute dream – I barely had to try out any of my normal tricks to get her to look at the camera today; she just did! Such an adorable little thing who was besotted by her little brother (understandably). We started off inside with the two of them, but then later moved outside where Madison proceeded to try and pick up all of the leaves on the outside patio just because she could (why not?!)

Oh, and you know what a huge fan I am of curls… so check this out!!

And what else can I say about her brother Logan other than…. Cuuuuuute!!

{Belinda – thanks for the fun morning! Hope the kids had fun and enjoy the sneaks!}

Lollipop Legs

Ok, so I’m not ashamed to say that I’m in love with baby leg warmers (Babylegs). I’ve got three pairs now for Mia (though when she got her first pair at 6 weeks old I don’t think they quite fit her properly) and I don’t think the obsession is going to end anytime soon.

Mia’s got chunky thighs so I do have to be careful how long I leave them on for otherwise she gets rings around her thighs…. haha

But c’mon seriously… look how cute they are!!

Milk Drunk

(n.) The look of pure ecstasy on a baby’s face when they’ve fallen asleep satisfied from a good feed!

Want a visual aid?!

img_048.jpg

I got to spend my whole afternoon with darling little Jack (who was the most perfect baby and slept for the majority of the time I was shooting… bliss!) Little Miss Mia had to accompany me today for the ride, so she got to watch Shrek (note to self: buy a copy… she loved it) as I worked. At two weeks old, Jack was amazing. There was little fussing as we moved him around and even when he got a little fed up, a quick feed would normally satisfy him (see above!)

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

And if you need any further proof that this little one was completely satisfied…

{Sally, thank you for having me capture this moment for you in the first few weeks of his life – enjoy the sneak peek!}

What do you get

.. when you mix 8 kids, lots of costume changes and lots of fairy bread?!

One tired photographer! ;)

Spinning Pretty is a new online store opening soon specialising in costumes (check our their tutus and fairy costumes… cuuuuute!) and I was lucky enough to be invited to take some photos of the costumes in action. What better way to showcase their lovely products than by using gorgeous little cute models to do so!

Spinning Pretty also supplied Mia’s tutu (found here) which I adore, so no doubt as she grows up there will be even more things to add to her collection.

Cluck cluck cluck

Did someone say newborn?! Yep, hormones were on overload today!!

I had the pleasure of doing a newborn photography session for little teeny Oscar and also a photography session for his big sister Maddie. It is certainly easy to forget how quickly those little babes can grow and how tiny they really are at birth!

Maddie just adored her little brother. It was so beautiful to watch her hold him, kiss and cuddle him just like she had been waiting for him to arrive forever. Oscar was so well behaved too and so incredibly alert and strong for a 2 week old! I was amased at his head control! Of course, being so active meant little time for sleeping (doesn’t matter, you take what you can get!) but we managed to still photograph a few nice ones for his parents!

{Karen – thanks again for the lovely morning; enjoy!}

First, here is little Oscar…

Brothers in arms

Adam and Jake were my victims today at this family photography session… and lucky me I got to continue my deep dark eye obsession with these two little cheeky monsters. I am also falling in love with photos where kids are pulling stupid faces… don’t ask me why as the parents probably hate them (well, they’re not ‘grandma present’ material, but they’re good fun!) so I’ve thrown in one for good measure for today’s preview too ;)

Even with an ear infection little Jake was so well behaved, and despite waking up at the crack of dawn this morning, Adam was a bundle of energy! I learned all about Shrek, trains and planes today courtesy of Adam – better save that in the info vault just in case I’m quizzed on it next time!

{Marina, you’d better watch these two… they’ll be breaking hearts before you know it!}

I wish…

I wish parents would allow me to wrap up their kids and take them home with me sometimes… Ok, kidding, but seriously – when you get such a high dosage of cute-factor, how can you not resist? :) First, there was little Jai – gorgeous big bubba baby blues I could just dive right in to. So well behaved for the whole time I was there; he was quite happy to just sit and play with the things that were around him most of the time!

fewster059.jpg fewster100.jpg

Then there was Acacia, his big sister. She’s turning 3 soon, and she’s such a clever little thing already! It still amazes me how quickly kids can pick things up. You would never tell from these photos, but she didn’t think much of me when I arrived – her pasta lunch was far more interesting (hell, I don’t blame her either… !) But once she warmed up, those snap happy moments were coming thick and fast. It’s going to be so much fun proofing this session with so many gorgeous shots to choose from!

Kids photography is so much fun! Maybe I’m biased but I think Melbourne has the cutest kids… ;)

What the duck

I can’t take credit for this as I saw this elsewhere, but I’ve only just finished laughing long enough to show you!! Can’t stop the giggles…

whattheduck.gif

(What’s the saying? “Small things amuse…”? Well, you know the rest…)

Twice the fun

I had three photoshoots over this weekend just gone- two I have already shared, but this one I was lucky enough to spend some time with not one, but two kidlets.

Darling Miss Abby was the most precious thing. A gorgeous sweetheart shaped face with glorious eyes and a tiny little mouth – melts your heart! She had giggles and smiles for me all morning which was lovely and didn’t mind nuding up for parts of her photoshoot!

Zac was also adorable – there were very few opportunities to catch him looking at the camera as he was far too engrossed in playing with his toys (and hey, if I were him… I’d do the same! Who wants a camera in their face all morning?!) but we managed to get a couple of sneaky ones, and even some later on in the day when he finally warmed up to the camera being there!

Of course, that’s what I adore about lifestyle photography – you capture what you can get! I make it no secret that my favourite shots are usually those where the kids are having fun, playing, laughing – it’s what makes the shots memorable and shows the kids as they truly are, not just what they look like!

{Thanks for having me over Rebecca – your kids are adorable, and I hope they had as much fun as I did}

 Congratulations to Shelley!

You have won yourself a free photography session at your home valued at $75. I will be in contact with you shortly to arrange further details :)

 Thank you to everyone who decided entered the competition. It was so fantastic to receive your emails and messages of support after the new website launched. I was truly overwhelmed with the number of people who responded to me.

My Little Miss Mia acted as the official barrel girl and adjudicator of the competition draw (see below), but I think she had more fun playing with the bowl and eating the strips of paper with everyone’s names on them than behaving herself!
